Well, it's time to scare a new generation of older teens, only they don't get scared anymore, they just laugh, or at least the World's Fantastical Niece does. In any case we get a "re-imagining" (that's code to say the movie isn't a "remake," but a different look at a horror classic, in other words, a remake) of "Friday the 13th," but not to worry, Jason is back complete with his mask, scantily clad hot dudettes, stupid dudes, and lots of people screaming where instead of back in the day those of us would have been afraid, I'm guessing most of the crowd going to this movie will be cheering on the killings, especially if they are gruesome and telegraphed, and chuckling at the stupidness of those visiting Camp Crystal Lake.
The trailer hints at some of the stuff we can hope for in a re-imagining of "Friday the 13th," namely lots of gratuitous violence, lots of gratuitous sex, and lots of stupid people. I guess this is all we should hope for and not some "We're going to make 'Friday the 13th' more artsy for a more sophisticated world." Here's to boobs and bludgeoning
