What’s New? A Podcast of: Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up! Lousy Audio, Airport Travels, A Polar Express, and An Abrupt Ending

So
The Dude on the Right ends up with some audio issues for

this podcast of "Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up!"
, but Stu Gotz powers on
trying to keep things flowing even if The Dude sounds like his microphone is
being hit by an electric storm.  They both do their best, however, to tell
you their take on the movie "The Day the Earth Stood Still," Stu Gotz got to
spend some quality family time with the Little Gotz’s and Mama Gotz at an
Enchanted Castle and on a Polar Express over the weekend, while The Dude regales
stories of going to New Jersey, a digital boarding pass, and why People Magazine
is worse than Playboy (although Stu has his own thoughts).  Some topics
don’t come up during this podcast, like why the dog in the picture is trying to
do The Dude’s hair, and that The Dude finally saw "It’s a Wonderful Life" from
start to finish.  Hopefully the next episode of the "Weekend Wrap-Up!" will
be audio-problem free!

The Dude on the Right

Our
"Weekend Wrap-Up!" podcast
gets off to a smashing start, with my not
being able to speak and Stu Gotz reminding me that it was a Honda in

"The Day the Earth Stood Still,"
but for some reason my headset starts
going haywire, thus leading to some strange sounding audio and an apologetic
ending.  But in the meantime we did get to talk about some things.  I
got to tell Stu about my trip to New Jersey where I used my iPhone as my
boarding pass, how People Magazine is disgusting, and while he tells me about
his trip to
Enchanted
Castle
with the Little Gotzes, well, I let Stu know that I’ve been there
as well when I was in college.  Stu’s weekend was all about being with Mama
Gotz and the Little Gotzes, with said trip to the Castle, but even more in step
with Christmas was a ride on The Polar Express, a train ride in Illinois to The
North Pole, or maybe just Aurora, complete with Santa and some hot looking
elves.

Since our podcast is cut short a bit, I was unable to tell Stu about my
watching "It’s a Wonderful Life," nor give a shout-out to my BFF’s sister and
family, nor let Stu know that I have a visitor for part of the week, who likes
to do my hair and it’s not my BFF.  I guess the picture here will have to
do.

So much
more, a little less, but as always,
thanks for listening!

What’s New? A Movie Review of: The Day the Earth Stood Still

The Dude on the Right is slowly getting back into a routine, a routine with
newness, a routine with oldness, but thankfully the routine includes

a movie review of "The Day the Earth Stood Still."
  The Dude
isn’t sure if he should have included a lame-ass movie like "The Day the Earth
Stood Still" in the new routine he is trying to develop, but good movies or
crappy movies, he’s always going to tell you what he thinks.  The simple
hint is that he loved Keanu Reeves as Ted Theodore Logan, loved Keanu Reeves as
Neo, but as Klaatu, his loving Keanu Reeves isn’t so much.  Go and see the
movie for John Cleese and Jaden Smith, or maybe rent the original.

What’s New? A Podcast of: Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up! A Fraternity Dinner, TV Talk, and Girls in Skimpy Outfits

The Dude on the Right shirked his duties for a few days to reunite with some
friends from his fraternity days, and since Stu Gotz was also a friend in The
Dude’s fraternity days, and since friends came in from near and far, for this

"Weekend Wrap-Up!" podcast
, Stu & The Dude reminisce a bit, reflect on a
weekend with friends, and aren’t really sorry that they can’t party any more
like it’s 1999.  And as they reflect on a weekend of getting together with
old friends, they don’t forget new things, like the Chicago Bears beating a
different football team, Stu seeing some old movies like "Bring It On," "Stick
It," and "The Day the Earth Stood Still," and they both love TV, with The Dude
really loving "Chuck," even if it is very predictable, and Stu eagerly awaiting
the return of "Battlestar Galactica" to the TV airwaves.

Who knows what they’ll talk about next?

Back from an extended weekend of fun with old friends, well, most of this

"Weekend Wrap-Up!" podcast
is about Stu and I getting together with
friends that we have been friends with for over twenty years, mostly thanks to
our fraternity days in a place called Theta Xi.  We’ve been having these
Christmas (or P.C. correct "Holiday") parties for years, and as the years are
going by, most of us don’t have the stamina to party until closing time anymore.
Instead, well, we find ourselves tired and just decide to head back to our hotel
rooms and go to bed.

The years have also brought about some change in
locations for food and drink, where
"English"
has taken the place of "Hooters," for lunch on Friday, for some
reason we seem to like
"Reagle Beagle,"
and a festive dinner happened at
"Tavern at the Park"
where people came in from Florida, New Jersey, Minnesota, and places around the
world, or at least around Chicago.

We also talk about the Chicago Bears, TV (I
really like the show "Chuck,") and Stu and Mama Gotz caught up on old movies
like "Bring It On," "Stick It," and the really old (yet coming this weekend new)
"The Day the Earth Stood Still," while Stu is worried about the Jim Carrey movie
coming out, "Yes Man," namely that it might suck because of all of the publicity
it is getting.

So much
more, so much less, but as always,
thanks for listening!

History Shows that The Dude on the Right was Left, and The Dude on the Left was Right

By:

The Dude on the Right

Little did I realize that it’s been over twenty years, last October, that this
odyssey that is Entertainment Ave! began, and thanks to the historical nature
that is The Mystery Dude, and the continuing work of Mookie,
the first review
from The Unknown Reviewers
, from our days at the Illinois Institute of
Technology, incognito as we were, has been posted.  With no fanfare, or
really any coolness, we reviewed a band named "1313." The Dude on the Left and
I, or actually, for our first article, me being "LEFT" and him being "RIGHT,"
well, we gave the band "Two Thumbs Up!", and suddenly, two dudes just looking
for a way to make beer money, helped to develop an internet entity that has
lasted 20 years, sometimes strong, sometimes not so strong, but in the end letting
some people have some fun.

The weird thing for me is that I can almost
remember every picture I have taken, but as I read our first review, I have no
recollection of the band "1313," sort of.  Then I became obsessed, scoping
out the photos in that issue, and those in the rest of the 1988 archives that
have been posted, and can honestly say "I took that picture!" many a
time.  Yup, back in
those days we had cameras, with film, and we had to develop it in a darkroom,
and I knew how.

But as I also perused those 1988 archives, and the year came
to an end, I don’t want to say one band influenced me to love seeing music, but
as I read
our
review of "Shuddup ‘N Drive,"
who knew a bar band would be so influential in
my appreciation for hard-working bands?  Those early days instantly brought
supporters and

initial non-supporters (Barry – Where are you?)
, and I would like to say
that over the years we have become more polished in the review department, but
that definitely is not the case.

As the IIT Galvin Library continues adding to
the Technology News online archives, I’m really looking forward to the
progression of things, the changing of the guard at times, our online advice
column, Dear Dudes, and how we slowly transformed from just reviewing bar bands
to shifting to national acts.

More looks back at our early days will be coming
soon, but for now I can’t believe how thin I was back then.

That’s it for this one!

What’s New? A Podcast of: Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up! Black Friday, A Walnut Room, Painting, Gambling, Movies, and More!

Thanksgiving
led to the lack of a Thursday podcast last week, but The Dude on the Right & Stu
Gotz do their best to make up for it during this episode of

their "Weekend Wrap-Up!" podcast
.  The thing is, with an extended
weekend, they talk about a lot of the same things, like movies ("Bolt," "Tropic
Thunder," "Iron Man," "Delta Farce," and "Australia"), music (Britney Spears has
a new CD, "Circus," coming out), TV ("The Big Band Theory" and "How I Met Your
Mother"), and The Chicago Bears losing, but the holidays brought some new stuff
like a visit to the Museum of Science and Industry for the Gotz’s, a new holiday
tradition that should probably stop in its tracks (it’s a visit to The Walnut
Room at Macy’s, which used to be Marshall Fields), The Dude having dinner and
lunch with a variety of friends, and both Stu and The Dude disgusted at people
who helped lead to the death of a dude at Wal Mart on Black Friday.

They both cover a lot of ground, but the podcast is under 20 minutes, so what
the hell, go ahead and

give the podcast a listen
.

As
we are slowly getting recording our podcast on my MacBook laptop a little more
consistent, it was kind of weird because as much as this was a long weekend for
the both of us with Turkey-Day involved, I still wonder why

our "Weekend Wrap-Up!" podcast
is usually about the same things.

Stu,
well, with the holiday, started getting the Little Gotz’s involved in science
with a trip to the "Museum of Science and Industry" in Chicago, and then
introduced them to bad food at "The Walnut Room" while I advise people just show
up there to see the Christmas Tree and get dinner somewhere else.  He also
saw the movie "Bolt" in 3-D and thought the story sucked but was good for the
kids, and Mama Gotz wouldn’t let him finish watching "Delta Farce" thanks to his
Netflix queue.  He also tries to analyze an episode of "The Big Bang
Theory," and we both loved the "Naked Man" episode of "How I Met Your Mother."

Me, I tell Stu about me and my BFF having dinner with The Dude on the Left and
Trash; lunch with The Mystery Dude and Mama Mystery Dude; how I didn’t see any
movies over the Thanksgiving weekend (but am looking forward to a review of
"Australia" from The W.G.N.); how little ones are becoming gamblers; and am
thankful that the Chicago Bears loss to the Minnesota Vikings might save me some
hours from watching football for the rest of the season, although that time
might be now taken by listening to Britney Spears’ new CD, "Circus."

So much
more, so much less, but as always,
thanks for listening!

What’s New? A Podcast of: Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up! Fireworks, Movies, Manners, and a Cheap Dude.

The Dude on the Right is
almost ready to toss his new MacBook Pro out of the window while

he and Stu Gotz were recording this "Weekend Wrap-Up!" podcast
,
especially as Stu brags about how The Dude could probably take one quick class
at his local Apple store to solve his problems, but The Dude is a stubborn
pollack, so the two of them just hunker down to talk about The Magnificent Mile
Lights Festival in Chicago over the weekend, and Stu seeing "Quantum of Solace"
instead of "Twilight" at the theaters.  There is some Netflix catching up
to do for The Dude, Stu might have a way to save the environment thanks to his
thinking while he was taking a poop, and Stu has some hostility for the YMCA
Scuba program, which he might want to see a psychiatrist for.

They both discuss this Thanksgiving weekend’s movie schedule, and Stu revisits
the brilliance that is "Fast Times at Ridgemont High."  So much to talk
about in so little time, yet they figure out a way to pull it off, and even
mention the fact that Stu Gotz is also a
member of Twitter Nation
.

Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up! Fireworks, Movies, Manners, and a Cheap Dude

By:

The Dude on the Right

Stu
Gotz is here for

our "Weekend Wrap-Up! Podcast"
and he started grumpy, but now is just
perturbed at me because I’m too cheap to take a quick Apple class to get our
podcast to sound better with the two USB headsets I’m trying to use.  Me,
I’m just stubborn, and yes, I am cheap.

My cheapness aside, myself, I skipped
the movies with my BFF, instead catching the end of the Magnificent Mile
Festival of Lights Parade, where maybe our vantage point was crap for float
viewing, but if you want the perfect view for the fireworks, I know the spot and
I’m not telling.  Stu didn’t catch a parade, didn’t take the little Gotz’s
to see "Bolt," but his seeing

"Quantum of Solace"
did lend us to some James Bond talk.  On the
funnier front, Stu revisited "Fast Times at Ridgemont High," while I have
Netflix viewing to catch up with, including "Tropic Thunder!"

There
is a little talk about The Chicago Bears and their leading the division yet
still sucking, Stu ponders his Twitter
Tweets
, manners, and a way to help save the environment because you only
wipe your butt with one hand.

Stu, being the Scuba man that he is, lastly
reminisces on the ending of the YMCA Scuba Training, with a little but of
animosity.

Neither of us know if we will see "Transporter 3," "Australia," or
"Four Christmases" at the movies this week for Thanksgiving, but did enjoy
Justin Timberlake in a black unitard on Saturday Night Live a few weeks ago.

Happy Thanksgiving and thanks for listening!
