Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up! “Hancock,” Fireworks, Cars, Church, and More!

By:

The Dude on the Right

I am happy to say that both Stu Gotz and I made it through the 4th of July
weekend with all of our appendages attached, however, during

our "Weekend Wrap-Up!" podcast
, Stu regales me with a story of some friends
who are sort of lucky to have done the same!  But this podcast isn’t all
about danger – though my going to mass over the weekend did bring thoughts of a
lightning bolt occurring on a sunny day – in any case, nope, we talk about
simpler things like the movie

"Hancock."
I tell Stu of my time with my BFF which included my making
her dinner, going with her to test drive some cars (showing I don’t really know
BWM models, but that doesn’t matter because I preferred the VW Eos anyway), and
putting my life into her hands as we stepped through the church doors.  I
also want to know where my Netflix movies disappeared to.  Stu lets me know
that he liked the movie

"Nancy Drew,"
and gave some bombshell news about one of our friends.

And
what podcast would be complete without talk about Pringles and my realizing,
because I’m slow sometimes, that they aren’t really potato chips.

And lastly, a shout-out to my Mom to get well soon!

Thanks for listening!

What’s New? A Movie Review of: “Hancock.”

As The Dude on the Right is a tad worried what Stu Gotz will say when he
reveals something that happened over The Dude’s 4th of July weekend during their
next podcast, and The Dude is also a little more worried about some happenings
in the Old Country, he figured out a way

to review the movie "Hancock,"
even though, if you have an 8-year old
and you took him to see the movie, The Dude’s review might be a little too late
because now, your 8-year old, probably, totally, loves the word "Asshole."

Happy movie-going!

What’s New? A Podcast of: Apologies to The WGN&N, Bro-i-l, Sis, and Night Ranger. That Said, Happy 4th of July!

The
Dude on the Right is in the doghouse for many too many reasons, so for this
podcast he tries to apologize to The WGN&N, his Bro-i-l, and his Sis (but maybe
not that much to his Sis), for previous comments done wrong, and he’s also doing
some apologizing to Night Ranger because The Dude always wanted to be a weather
forecaster, but sucks at it, thus causing him to miss their concert.

The Dude also hopes people play things safe this 4th of July holiday weekend.
Hopefully he won’t try the firecracker experiment mentioned in the movie
"Armageddon," and you shouldn’t try that science experiment, either.  You
should, however, super-supervise any kids in your sight playing with sparklers,
because, as an adult, that’s your job.  1800 degrees F is a sparkler
temperature (that’s the bright, glowing part on the rod of a sparkler), and also
close to the burning temperature of cremation.  Do your best to not let
your kids, or the neighbor kids, know what it might feel like if they get
cremated.

The Dude on the Right

This podcast is about apologies and Happy 4th of July – hoping you keep all
of your appendages.

The first apology is to
Night Ranger, their
fans, my fans, and the fact that I obviously don’t have an
AMS Seal of Approval
because my weather forecasting ability sucks.  I didn’t go to their concert
at the Arlington Heights Frontier Day’s Festival because I was afraid of
thunder, lightning, and general storminess, although from the looks of things as
it panned out, well, the weather didn’t seem to end up being that bad at all by
showtime, and I probably missed a great show.  Hopefully I’ll get to see
them in Ottawa, IL, at the end of July, but at least I do have

their new CD, "Hole In The Sun,"
to listen to.  If you’re a Night
Ranger fan, you should go and get your copy of the CD to listen to, too.

On
the second apology front, well, it looks like I’m now in the doghouse with my
family, so I would like to apologize to The WGN&N (That’s "The World’s Greatest
Niece and Nephew"), my Bro-i-l (No, that’s not a way to cook, it’s short for my
brother-in-law), and also my Sis, but with some prejudice for her.  For
what it’s worth, I didn’t sleep much last night, not because of pissing off my
sis or Bro-i-l, but the last two people I ever want to upset are The WGN&N, so
to them, I am sorry.

What I won’t feel sorry for is you, the reader, if over
this 4th of July you blow off an appendage or two because you wanted to test the
"firecracker" theory you saw in the movie "Armageddon," decide to "look inside"
the launching tube of the firework that didn’t go off yet, or don’t impress on
your kids that the reasons sparklers, well, sparkle, is because they are on
fire, and that flaming part on the sparkler rod, well, it can reach about 1800
degrees F, and for comparison’s sake, if you want to get yourself cremated,
whether you are dead or alive, cremation takes place at about the same
temperature, even a little less.  If you give kids sparklers, for goodness
sake, be a good parent, make sure they "sparkle" away from their bodies, and for
the love of your kids, and your neighbor’s kids, don’t ever let them have
"Sparkler Sword Fights."

Happy 4th of July.  Be safe.  And We’ll C.
U. Next Monday.  That just doesn’t have the ring to it like The Dude on the
Left used to sign off.  Oh well.

What’s New? A Podcast of: Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up! RV-ing, Penn & Teller, Movie Talk, Toilet Paper, and More!

Some travel issues delayed Stu Gotz getting back in town so

the podcast of "Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up!"
was a day late, and even
with some extra time, well, The Dude on the Right screwed up the opening.
But that’s okay because they have lots to talk about, including some movie talk
about "Wanted," "Wall-E," "Presto," and "Letters from Iwo Jima."  The Dude
relates to Stu that he really should get Showtime so he could see "Penn &
Teller: Bullshit," and Stu should also get Sirius Satellite Radio so he could
hear ABBA, 24/7, for a couple of weeks.  Stu, on the other hand, relates
his woes of toilet paper at airports.  They both talk about a fight at the
Cubs/White Sox Crosstown Classic, they talk about tattoos, and with the 4th of
July weekend coming up, they talk about how it looks like The Dude’s BFF still
won’t get to meet any of The Dude’s friends, even with the lure of REO
Speedwagon.

Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up! RV-ing, Penn & Teller, Movie Talk, Toilet Paper, and More!

Stu Gotz’s delay in getting back to the Chi-Town area after an RV-ing adventure
(complete with a trip to
Herkimer N.Y.) led
to our

"Weekend Wrap-Up!" podcast
being a day late, but even with an extra day of
preparation, I somehow manage to screw-up our opening.  Oh well!  We
don’t do a lot of movie talking, just a quick thought about

"Wanted"
from me, some quick thoughts about

"Wall-E"
from both of us, but the movie clip that actually had all of us
laughing, from Stu and Mama Gotz to the Little Gotz’s, and from myself to my BFF,
was the animated short, "Presto," that preceded "Wall-E," about a cute little
rabbit, just wanting to get fed, and a magical hat.

Stu did manage to catch up
on some of his Netflix viewing, loving "Letters from Iwo Jima," while I regale
Stu with my loving the new season of
"Penn & Teller: Bullshit,"
especially their take on "New Age Medicine," the magic of a kazoo, and I can’t
believe I forgot to tell Stu about the toilet plunger therapy and how Penn &
Teller seem to know their audience is a bunch of men because suddenly their
booby quotient is a lot higher than in past episodes.  I do advise Stu that
now might be the time to get Sirius Satellite Radio, and no, not because of the
merger with XM, an approval decision that has so far lasted longer than it takes
for a baby to be conceived, born, and eating solid food, but because for a
couple of weeks they are going to have "ABBA Radio," all ABBA, 24/7, in
celebration of the upcoming

"Mamma Mia!"
movie.  We also have some tattoo and piercing talk, and as
I tell Stu to go and look for
the video,
there was a fight during the one of the latest Chicago White Sox/Chicago Cubs
Crosstown Classic games, and nope, it’s not about rival fans beating each other
up, but rather about joining together in the love.

And, go figure, Stu has
toilet paper issues.

Happy listening!

What’s New? A CD Review of “Hole In The Sun” from Night Ranger.

The Dude on the Right is happily surprised that The WGN knows who Night Ranger is, but The WGN didn’t know that Night Ranger also has a new CD coming out, “Hole In The Sun,” which The Dude recommends. If you ever were a fan of the band, and their songs, like “Don’t Tell Me You Love Me” or “Sister Christian,” it might not be a bad idea for you to spend a few bucks and get their new CD, because, well, Night Ranger isn’t trying to re-invent themselves, they just rock. They might help you rock, too.

What’s New? A Movie Review of “Wall-E.”

The Dude on the Right is probably one of the few reviewers in the world that didn’t like
“Wall-E” that much, and for his review, well, he can’t even justify it. He blames the lack of dialogue; He blames his own PMS; He
even blames a dude sitting a couple seats away from him. What he doesn’t blame, though, might be his own lack of just being able to envelop himself in a movie where, a lot of the time, only the eyes of the characters tell the feelings. The Dude might just need new contact lenses.

What’s New? Movie Reviews of “Get Smart” and “Wanted.”

The
Dude on the Right was a little lax in getting his
review of "Get Smart"
posted, but it is now here for your reading
pleasure, and The Dude recommends that if you don’t want to be in a movie
theater filled with little kids, and hate gratuitous violence, maybe "Get Smart"
might be a good matinee for you and your lady to see over the weekend.  The
Dude also saw
"Wanted,"
and that review is also posted
, and if you want to be in a movie theater
with no little kids and seeing a movie with tons of gratuitous violence,
Angelina Jolie’s butt, and physics be damned, enjoy the ludicrousness that is
"Wanted."

What’s New? A Podcast of: A Special Guest Podcaster, The WGN, Joins for TV, Comedian, Gun, and Socially Inept Talk!

The Dude on the Right was joined by The WGN for this Thursday podcast, and they talk about a lot of things. The Dude introduces The WGN to “America’s Got Talent,” the both talk about George Carlin, and The Dude learns that The WGN is making contacts for his future. They both talk about guns (how topical, what, with the Supreme Court decision today), family gatherings, and if The Dude’s family is socially inept. The Dude is also happy to hear The WGN knows who Night Ranger is, hopes the two of them might be able to see Radiohead at Lollapalooza, and fears he might get sucked in to “Dolphin Olympics 2.” Maybe The WGN is a worse influence on The Dude as apposed to The Dude being a worse influence on The WGN?
