The Dude on the Right Admits He’s a Loser and Finds Out That He’s an Addict.

By:

The Dude on the Right

In this podcast, I’m sure much to the joy of my nephew, niece, and sister, I
admit to my loserdom.  I also found out this morning that I’m an addict, so
I discuss a little of that, and thankfully "American Idol" finally gets to
Hollywood next week because I’m getting tired of the auditions, although there
was a highlight/lowlight from yesterday’s show that I spotlight.  I’m going
to try and pick myself up by my bootstraps and turn my frown upside down now,
but hopefully, by the end of the weekend, I’ll feel a little less like a loser
and have something brand new for all of you.

Thanks for listening and reading, and as always I welcome your comments.

Catchin Up on “American Idol,” Washing Your Car, and Don’t Bother with “Annapolis.”

By:

The Dude on the Right

I’ve been lax in keeping up with current TV events, or at least giving you my
update, to I reflect on one of my favorite moments from the auditions so far.
I also saw "Annapolis" and tell you not to see it, and my McDonald’s breakfast
wasn’t the surprise I had hoped it would be.

Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up: “The Matador,” “In Good Company,” and Otherwise Boring Weekends.

By:

The Dude on the Right

Ahh, another episode of "Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up."  My weekend was
pretty boring as it was mostly spent working on the animation for our latest
venture, a video podcast called "Stu & The Dude Review the Movies for You," but
I did get out to see "The
Matador
" with Pierce Brosnan.  I mean, the movie had Pierce Brosnan in
it, I didn’t go see the movie with Pierce, nope, I was stuck with The Dude on
the Left, and I give a quick review.  Stu was stuck at home and saw "In
Good Company," and he talks a bit about that, and the both of us were
disappointed with the snowstorm that never really came.

Learning Animation, Lucid Dreaming, and “The Matador.”

By:

The Dude on the Right

Not much new has hit the pages of Entertainment Ave! in the past week, and I
partially apologize. Pretty much I’ve been wrapped up trying to finish the
animation for the debut of "Stu and The Dude Review the Movies for You" later
this week. I think I’ve just about got it down pat, I hope, because I’d really
like to get some sleep and not have wacky dreams where I started bouncing around
my bedroom, eventually landing on the floor, and then being pulled through the
ceiling, only the ceiling seemed to be infinitely thick because I keep floating
higher and higher yet still going through plaster. The weird part, as if that
wasn’t weird enough, was that I was aware I was dreaming and usually when that
happens I can take control,
lucid
dreaming
as it is called, and believe me, being able take over a dream can
be pretty fun sometimes. But, I just kept floating up through my ceiling until,
still aware I was dreaming, I forced myself to wake up.

Anyway, thanks to The
Dude on the Left calling, I was able to get from in front of my computer monitor
and saw pretty funny adult film, "The
Matador
," where
Pierce Brosnan
is working quickly to shed his image as James Bond, although he does kill some
people in the movie. If you’re looking for some adult humor and entertainment, I
recommend it.

Wrapping up before I get back to getting back to trying to learn how to do
animation, thanks for your patience and support. We should have a new episode of
"Stu and The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up," I’m going to try and write some reviews of
"Underworld: Evolution" and "Last Holiday," as well as review "The Wedding
Crashers" DVD that has been sitting next to my TV, but in working to get one of
my goals for the new year accomplished, I’ve got to get our premier video
podcast of "Stu and The Dude Review the Movies for You" done by the end of
January, even if it means no sleep or more wacky dreams. I just hope I can take
control of the next one because it’s always fun being able to fly around in your
dreams, especially when you can control it.

Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up: “Last Holiday,” Football Talk, and Rude Parkers.

By:

The Dude on the Right

It’s here, this week’s Stu and The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up.  Oddly enough we
both went to see "Last Holiday" with Queen Latifah.  I liked it more than
he did, but both of us felt wrong for liking a movie that pretty much had no
surprises.  There was also some football talk, specifically how bad the
Chicago Bears did, and Stu rants a bit about people who park rudely when getting
their morning coffee.  Me, I just wondered which express lane sign at the
grocery store takes precedence, the one hanging from the ceiling, or the one
from the cashier’s pole.

Thanks for listening and reading, and as always I welcome your comments.

Funny how getting your car serviced can help you get work done.

By:

The Dude on the Right

I had to take the dude-mobile to get some servicing done so I figured what
better time to catch up on some reviewing than sitting in the waiting room at
the car shop.  I brought along my trusty new laptop and popped out reviews
of "Syriana," "Fun With Dick and Jane," "The Producers," and "Match Point.
I know, "What took you so long?", but I’ve got my reasons, and none of them good
enough or ones that I want to share.  Let’s just say that too many things
got in the way.  So, "Bamm!", four new reviews and a new blog all in one
day.

If all goes well we should have our first videocast by the end of the
month.  Sadly, yesterday, I ran into some computer issues that blew up a
file (I know, back-ups are the name of the game, but do you have a full back-up
of all of your work?) that set it back about a week.  Fine, I admit it, I’m
an idiot because this was important and I should have been doing a continual
back-up, but I didn’t.  Stu and I are in test mode right now for this
videocast, and now I’ve got to rebuild some things I should have never lost in
the first place, but at least I have my knowledge of doing it the first time, so
it shouldn’t be as difficult, kinda like riding a bike.

Enough rambling, read the new reviews, and have
a fabulous day.

TV & “Battlestar Galactica,” “Match Point” & “The Notebook,” Sirius & Howard & Sulu.

By:

The Dude on the Right

So we’re a day late and a few dollars short, but this podcast is Stu and mine’s
weekend wrap-up.  Stu was happy because "Battlestar
Galactica
" returned from reruns, and I try to work through with him my TV
viewing troubles.  We also have some movie discussions about "Match Point"
and "The Notebook," and I hip Stu into the fact that I got a second
Sirius receiver for the
Dude-pad, specifically to hear all of
Howard Stern’s show,
and how George Takei
is Howard’s announcer this week and has been very funny so far.

Howard Stern is back, Survivor 12 presents another problem, and some movie awards you may not have heard about.

By:

The Dude on the Right

Stu Gotz couldn’t make it today for our weekend wrap-up, although we might try
to pull that off tomorrow, but I still wanted to hip you to some things you
might have missed over the past few days.  First off,
Howard Stern is back on
the air, but only if you pay for him, and from my perspective, if you were a fan
of his before the investment should be worth the money.  Secondly, my
television viewing will really get messed up in February as "Survivor"
kicks back in with its new season, against "Smallville"
and "Dancing
With the Stars
."  I’m so screwed.  Lastly, I talk about a
movie/video awards show you probably missed this weekend because, well, it
wasn’t on TV.  Lots of big winners, they even have a special effects
category, although the more I think about this, and I have to really stop
thinking about this, should they really have this category.  Oh well.

Thanks for listening and reading, and as always I welcome your comments.

Howard Stern, Censored Again Because of “Let Freedom Ring,” The Dude’s Mom is Worried About “Dancing With the Stars,” and a Weekend Dilemma.

By:

The Dude on the Right

I’m still a little perplexed as to when to write a blog, and when to do a
podcast, mostly, because, in the grand scheme of things, the podcast is just so
much simpler.  All I have to do is flip a switch, start a couple of
programs, talk about what I’m thinking, and "Bam!!!", I’m done, other than
getting things posted.  But sometimes I just seem to be in the mood to
type, and this seems to be one of those times, especially adding links to things
that I am writing about.  Anyway, let’s go.

First off, and I guess I missed the bulk of the
story when I was back in Ohio around Christmas, but I didn’t realize Howard
Stern created such a

hubbabaloo
with his latest billboard campaign until a few days ago.  It
seems that Howard and
the folks at Sirius Satellite
Radio
launched a billboard campaign with the tagline "Let freedom ring.
And let it be rung by a stripper." When I first heard the tagline I found it
kind of funny, and thought to myself "Self, wasn’t that in a Martina McBride
song?  I remember that line from somewhere?"  And then it occurred to
me, it was from the song "My Country ‘Tis of Thee."  That doesn’t seem to
be where the controversy came from, though.  It seems Dr. Martin Luther
King incorporated the phrase into his "I
Have a Dream
" speech, even referencing the song.  At least two
billboards were put up along Chicago expressways, meant, pretty much, to try and
catch the glimpse of those driving into downtown Chicago, probably on their way
to work, stuck in traffic, and maybe create a smile in the heart of every dude
and a little bit of disgust in the heart of every dudette.  Except,
according to a Reverend in Chicago, the phrase "Let freedom ring" was made
"popular" by Dr. King, and it is disrespectful to the African-American community
to trivialize it, and since the billboard locations were in African-American
communities, that made it even worse.

The
protest wasn’t started by the Reverend you might thing it would have been
started by, namely Reverend Jesse Jackson, but by a Catholic Priest, Rev.
Pfleger, who lost all respect by our own Stu Gotz when

he threatened to leave the Church if he was transferred
from his parish.
In any case, it seems the Reverend Pfleger got his wish, and both Viacom and
Clear Channel

bowed to his pressure and removed the ads
after protest threats.  I
hope Sirius got their money back.  But that isn’t even my real problem with
this.  My problem is that both the Reverend and, yes, Reverend Jesse
Jackson did chime it later, made this thing about race and the location of the
original billboard, when the billboard’s location is meant for one thing, and
one thing only – to catch the glimpse of those driving into Chicago on the Dan
Ryan Expressway.  They use the fact that the billboard structure is located
in an African American community as their sounding board, that somehow this ad
is meant to trivialize Dr. Martin Luther King, and that’s bad.  Had this ad
been on a local billboard, at ground level in an African American community, I
might, sort of, agree with their argument, but I have to wonder, if the first
billboard got put up off of the Ronald Reagan Tollway here in Illinois, if they
would have even noticed, or cared.

On a
lighter note, my mother wonders about "Dancing
With the Stars
," and how did Jerry Rice and his partner get the score they
got the other night.  Mom says, and I quote "what’s
with Jerry Rice getting 3  7’s when actually all he did was move around while
she did all the shaking and I mean SHAKING!!!!!!!!!"  I had to agree with
my Mom, although I did admit to her that I was watching
his
partner
a hell of a lot more than the

greatest wide receiver ever in the NFL
.  I really hope there isn’t a
fix.

Well, I’ve got
to wrap up this blog and plan my weekend.  It’s looking like I’ll catch the
movies "Match Point," where I’m bound to fall back in love with Scarlett
Johansson, and either "Grandma’s Boy" or "The Ringer" for me being of the easily
amused and looking for something to be easily amused by.  And, oh yea, I
have one more dilemma to work out this week, namely do I buy another Sirius
receiver for my home or just listen to Howard in my car come Monday, January
9th, when freedom rings, and I, personally hope it will be rung by a stripper.
From the replay of the test show on Howard 100 today, there looks to be many a
technical difficulty come Monday, enough which might actually make Howard’s head
explode.  I’m sure this would be much more entertaining on video, but even
on the radio, I’m thinking Howard can still make that pretty funny.  But
Johnny B.
is back in Chicago, and I started here listening to him when I first arrived
here back in 1985, even awakened one morning hearing our own Stu Gotz talking
with Johnny about things and a bunny rabbit, and I have been listening to him
since Howard has been off the air, and have found the Brandmeier-meister just as
amusing in a different way.  I’m so torn.  I guess the weekend, and my
compulsive disorder, will tell how this all works out.  I think I need a
couple of TIVO’s for my radio personalities now, but when would I listen to them
when I’m still watching my replays of "Dancing With the Stars?"  I’m so
screwed.

The third time’s a charm and “Dancing With the Stars” talk.

By:

The Dude on the Right

I always said I would just push "Record," start talking, and let that be our
podcast.  Not this time, the third time had to be the charm.  The
first try had one computer glitch that I couldn’t fix on the fly, the second try
had my recording computer freeze thanks to a bad anti-virus program kick-in, so
I finally got everything to go on the third try.  The sad part is most of
it admits that I am a fan of "Dancing With the Stars" and ABC has now given me
huge problems on my Thursday night television viewing since I don’t have enough
TIVO’s to record everything I want to watch.

As always, I welcome your comments.
