Speaking English in The United States, and When to See “United 93.”

By:

The Dude on the Right

The weather here in Chicagoland this weekend is kind of drag, and my choice of
movies to see this weekend came down to "R.V.,"
"Stick
It
," and "United 93."  "R.V." was totally out of the question, so it is
coming down to when to see "United 93" or "Stick It."  Movie issues aside,
most of this podcast relates to the issue of speaking English in The United
States.  I give you some stories about my Grandma, who was so proud to be
in this country one of the first things she did was buy a "Polish to English"
dictionary, and lots of ramblings about immigrants.

And, oh yea, our entry
into the Howard Stern Film
Festival
didn’t qualify for any awards, but after watching the films that
did qualify, I still think ours was better.  Maybe someday I’ll post it,
but for now there are issues as to not posting it, with one of the major ones
being by posting it, my mom will be able to see it.

Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up: Lots of Movie Talk – “Ice Age 2,” “Thank You For Smoking,” and “The Benchwarmers.”

By:

The Dude on the Right

It was all my fault, but we failed to do a "Stu & The Dude Weekend Wrap-Up" last
week, so both Stu and I have a lot of movie talk to catch up on.  Stu gives
his take on "Ice Age 2: The Meltdown," while I talk about "Thank
You For Smoking
" and "The
Benchwarmers
."  And as I’m as I’m proud of our entry into the Howard
Stern Film Festival, Stu can understand my fear if we actually qualify and my
mom wants to see what we’ve come up with.  Oh well, it was nice being a
part of the family.

Anyway, it’s good to get back in the groove of getting
things posted.  Our next podcast will be my "American Idol" recap posted
sometime on Wednesday, and with this coming weekend being Easter, things might
get a little hectic, but I might do a podcast during my travels.  Happy
listening!

Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up: The NCAA Tourney and Lots of Movie Talk.

By:

The Dude on the Right

Stu has returned from his many travels and it’s time for the return of "Stu &
The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up."  This episode starts with some comments about
The Dude on the Right and his
NCAA picks
Since Stu seems too lazy to read the reviews I posted, I give him my take on "V
for Vendetta
" and "Find
Me Guilty
."  Stu got his chance to see "Failure
to Launch
" and we also discuss the likes of "The
Aristocrats
."  We also do some talking about "South
Park
," "The Sopranos,"
and I have to correct something I said during the podcast, "The
Benchwarmers
" doesn’t open until April 7th, not March 24th.  "Thank
You for Smoking
," though, does open wider this weekend, and wider still in
the weekends following.  Sorry for the misinformation.

It was good to
have Stu back for a weekend wrap-up.  My next podcast, if all goes well,
will by my American Idol wrap-up for Tuesday’s performance, posted sometime on
Wednesday.

Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up: The movie “Date Movie” enters a Stu Gotz Hall of Fame.

By:

The Dude on the Right

Well I’m back from my trip to the old country, but both Stu and I got a chance
to see "Date Movie"
for this Weekend Wrap-Up.  I thought the movie, as a movie, pretty much
sucked, but because I am easily amused, I still laughed a lot.  Stu, on the
other hand, put "Date Movie" into a Hall of Fame of which only three other
movies had been enshrined.  And no, that Hall of Fame is not the "Movies
That Get Zero Stars" Hall of Fame, this is something different.  There is
also some talk about how I’m a bad uncle (maybe there is a movie there, kinda
like "Bad
Santa
") but I’m guessing my sister, and definitely my niece, are happier for
it, at least this time.

Thanks for listening and reading, and as always I welcome your comments.

Time is Relative, The Olympics, “Annapolis,” and “Firewall.”

By:

The Dude on the Right

I’ve got to give much props and much love to my nephew for making me remember
that time is relative and that I’m not a loser as mentioned in my previous
podcast.  He made me realize that my original goal was to get the first
episode of "Stu and The Dude Reviewin’
the Movies for You!
" done by the end of January, which I associated with the
start of the Winter Olympics.  It turns out the
Winter Olympics didn’t
start until today, so I was really confused as to when the end of January was.
With that, I got that first episode posted according to my goal, and that’s my
story and I’m sticking to it.  This podcast also deals with some Olympic
talk, and quick "should you go and see" the movies "Annapolis" or "Firewall."

Catchin Up on “American Idol,” Washing Your Car, and Don’t Bother with “Annapolis.”

By:

The Dude on the Right

I’ve been lax in keeping up with current TV events, or at least giving you my
update, to I reflect on one of my favorite moments from the auditions so far.
I also saw "Annapolis" and tell you not to see it, and my McDonald’s breakfast
wasn’t the surprise I had hoped it would be.

Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up: “The Matador,” “In Good Company,” and Otherwise Boring Weekends.

By:

The Dude on the Right

Ahh, another episode of "Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up."  My weekend was
pretty boring as it was mostly spent working on the animation for our latest
venture, a video podcast called "Stu & The Dude Review the Movies for You," but
I did get out to see "The
Matador
" with Pierce Brosnan.  I mean, the movie had Pierce Brosnan in
it, I didn’t go see the movie with Pierce, nope, I was stuck with The Dude on
the Left, and I give a quick review.  Stu was stuck at home and saw "In
Good Company," and he talks a bit about that, and the both of us were
disappointed with the snowstorm that never really came.

Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up: “Last Holiday,” Football Talk, and Rude Parkers.

By:

The Dude on the Right

It’s here, this week’s Stu and The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up.  Oddly enough we
both went to see "Last Holiday" with Queen Latifah.  I liked it more than
he did, but both of us felt wrong for liking a movie that pretty much had no
surprises.  There was also some football talk, specifically how bad the
Chicago Bears did, and Stu rants a bit about people who park rudely when getting
their morning coffee.  Me, I just wondered which express lane sign at the
grocery store takes precedence, the one hanging from the ceiling, or the one
from the cashier’s pole.

TV & “Battlestar Galactica,” “Match Point” & “The Notebook,” Sirius & Howard & Sulu.

By:

The Dude on the Right

So we’re a day late and a few dollars short, but this podcast is Stu and mine’s
weekend wrap-up.  Stu was happy because "Battlestar
Galactica
" returned from reruns, and I try to work through with him my TV
viewing troubles.  We also have some movie discussions about "Match Point"
and "The Notebook," and I hip Stu into the fact that I got a second
Sirius receiver for the
Dude-pad, specifically to hear all of
Howard Stern’s show,
and how George Takei
is Howard’s announcer this week and has been very funny so far.

Howard Stern is back, Survivor 12 presents another problem, and some movie awards you may not have heard about.

By:

The Dude on the Right

Stu Gotz couldn’t make it today for our weekend wrap-up, although we might try
to pull that off tomorrow, but I still wanted to hip you to some things you
might have missed over the past few days.  First off,
Howard Stern is back on
the air, but only if you pay for him, and from my perspective, if you were a fan
of his before the investment should be worth the money.  Secondly, my
television viewing will really get messed up in February as "Survivor"
kicks back in with its new season, against "Smallville"
and "Dancing
With the Stars
."  I’m so screwed.  Lastly, I talk about a
movie/video awards show you probably missed this weekend because, well, it
wasn’t on TV.  Lots of big winners, they even have a special effects
category, although the more I think about this, and I have to really stop
thinking about this, should they really have this category.  Oh well.

Thanks for listening and reading, and as always I welcome your comments.
