Stu Gotz somehow convinced The Dude on the Right that they should record
their
"Weekend Wrap-Up!" podcast at a Starbucks, and even though the music was
loud, it did make for some nice, background music, even if it distracted The
Dude. The both of them, though, overcame the background music to talk
about the boatloads of rain that were dumped on the Midwest over the weekend,
they both talk a bit about Hurricane Ike and the people who want to be rescued
in Galveston now that the storm is gone, and hey, why not critique Tina Fey
playing Sarah Palin on "Saturday Night Live?" Sure, they both liked Tina,
didn’t think Michael Phelps did that great on SNL, Stu’s got questions about the
ending of "3:10 to Yuma" while The Dude thinks Stu might piss his pants during
one scene of "Burn After Reading," but a podcast with Stu and The Dude wouldn’t
be complete without some talk about TV, and The Dude on the Right needs to quit
reviewing his visits to church. The Dude does give a shout-out to his BFF,
if you followed The
Dude’s Twitter you would have been texted to see Carlos Zambrano of The
Chicago Cubs get a no-hitter, and if you’re looking for Sarah Silverman in
skimpy underwear, go ahead and rent "I Want Someone to Eat Cheese With."
Just don’t ask The Dude what a "Hoagie Shack" is because he couldn’t remember
the term during his "review" while talking with Stu.

Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up! Rain, Movies, TV, and A Loud Starbucks.
By:
The Dude on the Right
So Stu Gotz calls me and says, "Dude, I can’t meet you at my place, so let’s do
our
‘Weekend Wrap-Up!’ podcast at the Starbucks in Bolingbrook, IL." I
should have known better, because I’ve met Stu at that coffee shop before, and
the music is always WAY loud, but rather than doing another solo podcast, oh, I
thought, "What the hell? Let’s give it a try!" At least we get
background music.
But loud, Starbucks’ music aside, our podcast deals with
talk of rain, because here in the Midwest we got tons of rain. Sure, it
wasn’t as much rain as those folks in Texas, with Hurricane Ike making landfall
over the weekend and my sister almost getting thrown out into the storm (a topic
for a future podcast with The W.G.N.), but one must wonder if God, or maybe the
Devil, or who is Mother Nature anyway, might be pissed at us, and I think those
people who "stuck it out" in Galveston should be left to fend for themselves.
Sure, that’s a segue into some religion talk, but with the rain, both of our
weekends dealt with some movies having Stu catch "3:10 To Yuma" via his Netflix
queue, and my seeing "Burn After Reading" at the theater and "I Want Someone to
Eat Cheese" thanks to my Netflix queue, both with my BFF. Stu is freaked
by a "Joe’s Crab Shack" commercial, I got to see Carlos Zambrano pitch a
no-hitter, and Stu is excited about his cable TV shows finishing up while I have
TiVo setting up to do as "The Biggest Loser," "Heroes," "Chuck," and nearly
every other show I love to watch on TV starts up in the next couple of weeks.
And we both thought
Tina Fey was great as Sarah Palin, yet Michael Phelps, not so great as most
of anything (except
his "diet" skit) on Saturday Night Live this past weekend.
That’s it for this one! I’m The Dude on the Right!! L8R!!!
What’s New? A Podcast of: Bears Win!, A Dead TV, The MTV VMA’s, and no Stu Gotz.
This should be a “Weekend Wrap-Up!”, but The Dude on the Right is flying solo for this podcast because Stu Gotz decided to see Mickey Mouse. Actually, it was mostly Mama Gotz and the LIttle Gotz’s that wanted to see Mickey, but, in any case, The Dude is left to lament about his TV woes by himself now that it is confirmed that his TV is really dead. And as The Dude contemplates purchasing a new TV, he sort of wonders why he should, especially since he fell asleep while watching the Chicago Bears beat the Indianapolis Colts, it was probably easier to watch the Cleveland Browns lose on a smaller TV, and there really didn’t seem to be a reason to watch the MTV Video Music Awards, especially since Britney Spears wasn’t a train wreck this year, she was just inserted into a lame skit. And yea, blah, blah, blah, the joke is old, but why is MTV still having a Video Music Awards ceremony when they don’t show many videos anymore?
Bears Win!, A Dead TV, The MTV VMA’s, and no Stu Gotz.
By:
The Dude on the Right
Okay, fine, I don’t really talk about the MTV Video Music Awards that much
during this podcast mostly because I thought Britney Spears’ opening was
kind of lame, and I was more distraught about my TV taking a crap about four
months before I really wanted to buy a new one. But hey, at least I was
sadly able to watch the Cleveland Browns get their asses kicked and happily saw
most of the Chicago Bears kicking ass before I fell asleep on my couch, in front
of my little TV that I had to bring up from my basement area to my living room.
In case you can’t tell, this TV thing is really pissing me off, especially since
a $1.00 fuse from Radio Shack, and my risking life and limb, didn’t fix the damn
thing.
The worst part? Stu Gotz isn’t in town to do our "Weekend
Wrap-Up!", so I’ve got no one to really bitch to about my TV, nor have someone
to convince me to spend money I don’t have on something like a monster, 65" LCD
TV.
And now, with my TV worries in front of me, I’ve also got to worry if my
BFF will want to see "The Women" at the movies (and by the way, I thought the
new version of "At The Movies," without Richard Roeper, sucked, but that’s a
podcast for another time), this weekend, instead of Brad Pitt in "Burn After
Reading." Who wouldn’t want to see Brad Pitt get punched in the nose by
John Malkovich?
That’s it for this one! I’m The Dude on the Right!! L8R!!!
Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up! The Democratic Convention, Dancing With the Stars, and Disney Disappoints a Gotz.
By:
The Dude on the Right
I
have to admit that new postings got derailed a bit with my trip to the old
country, but I’m not apologizing, I’m just saying. I’m also saying that
Stu Gotz and I got back together for a
"Weekend Wrap-Up!" podcast, and in the last couple of weeks there has only
been a couple of things to witness in the mainstream media, namely The Olympics
and talk of the upcoming Democratic Convention. Wouldn’t you know it, both
of us are happy that The Olympics (and Michael Phelps talk) are over, and now we
both wonder if Hillary Clinton can pull off total "C"-word-dom during the
convention (a word Stu heard this weekend, from an unlikely source). Me,
though, I really hope that Barack Obama stops drunk texting me at odd hours in
the morning with his "pick" for Vice President of Joe Biden, and he would
finally text me the truth – that Hillary Clinton is his running mate, if only
for the shear newsworthiness for the next five years.
Politics aside, Stu
ruins my pronouncement of the latest contestants of
"Dancing With the Stars" for this podcast, there’s a marriage that was done,
I had to pee and didn’t want to cut my wiener, and one of the Little Gotz’s gets
some disappointment and doesn’t understand how the "movie" world works thanks to
the changing of the release date of Disney’s
"Beverly Hills Chihuahua" from his birthday weekend, to, well, October
3rd. With Little Gotz’s dreams now crushed, the next thing you know he’ll
be asking Daddy Gotz to watch "The Bad Lieutenant. Like Father, Like Son.
Even with my trip to the old country, both of our weekends were kind of boring.
Since I don’t know if I’ll get a podcast posted this Thursday (we’ll see if I
can get things together with The W.G.N.), I hope your upcoming Labor Day weekend
is more exciting, especially, well, if you end up in labor. Screw the
workers – birthing babies is really about labor, at least so I’m told, read, or
see in the movies. Happy labor! Or just enjoy the day, and think
about working, or having a baby.
That’s it for this one! I’m The Dude on the Right!! L8R!!!
What’s New? The Chicago Air & Water Show, “Tropic Thunder,” Mark Your Calendars, and The Olympics!
The Dude on the Right flies solo for this podcast, though talking about
flying is exciting him about seeing the "Chicago Air and Water Show" this
weekend with his BFF. Hopefully that will go well, and Monday’s podcast
will be all about fun at North Avenue Beach in Chicago.
The Dude also does a large rant on The Olympics with Michael Phelps and Mark
Spitz, the Chinese deceiving us, and his loving Fencing and not Women’s Beach
Volleyball. He is also strangely fascinated with the Norwegian
weightlifter who blew out his arm during his competition.
"Tropic Thunder" talk also is in the podcast, though The Dude is worried that if
you don’t see the movie, well, you must be a reta$#, though, never mind,
he doesn’t want to get boycotted.
Maybe you better just listen to this podcast to find out when "Harry Potter and
The Half-Blood Prince" will be in theaters in 2009.
The Chicago Air & Water Show, “Tropic Thunder,” Mark Your Calendars, and The Olympics!
By:
The Dude on the Right
I’m
flying solo for this podcast, hoping that The W.G.N. doesn’t hate me now,
but I wanted to get it done early so that I could watch Michael Phelps, tonight,
win another gold medal, thus getting him one more gold medal closer to beating
Mark Spitz. I just wonder if Michael Phelps could win those gold medals
wearing the sleek and stylish, red white & blue, bathing suit of Mr. Spitz?
Now as much as this podcast has some talk about The Olympics, about my wondering
about the fakery of the Chinese, about being grossed out by a weightlifting
injury that I can’t find the video,
only some photos, for, and my dedication to the sport of fencing but not
women’s beach volleyball, I also give you some dates to mark on your calendar,
thanks to the return of "Entourage" and when "Harry Potter and The Half-Blood
Prince" will be in movie theaters.
More importantly, though,
for this podcast, I am stoked for seeing the Chicago Air and Water Show,
which happens this weekend, and even though it sort of signals the end of
summer, as an
Aerospace Engineer, and someone who would have seriously considered flight
school back in the day if I had 20/20 vision rather than 10/400, I just love the
sights and sounds of aircraft.
And, oh yea, even though we are planning a
"Stu & The Dude
Reviewin’ the Movies for You!" episode of "Tropic Thunder," I give you my
take on the movie during this podcast (Hint: Go and see it!), how anytime I hear
Flo Rida’s "Low" that a different image will enter my head, and if you don’t see
the movie, well, you must be a reta$#, umm, never mind,
I don’t want to get boycotted. Oh wait, maybe I do.
Anyway,
thanks for listening!
That’s it for this one! I’m The Dude on the Right!! L8R!!!
What’s New? A Podcast of: “Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up! RIP Chef, Calliope Music, and Stu Doesn’t See “The Scorpions” but Does Eat Tamales!” also A Movie Review of “Pineapple Express.”
A
long weekend leads to building blocks of newness, so for this Monday The Dude on
the Right posts his weekend review of
"Pineapple Express," noting that as much as he liked the stoner aspect of
the flick, once it turned into a gunfight, well, the movie turned just a little
too over the top for him. The funniness was in the stoners, and all of a
sudden they had guns? The Dude on the Right is so critical, sometimes.
But newness isn’t only about a movie review, since postings happen on a Monday
it’s also time for a
Stu & The Dude "Weekend Wrap-Up!" podcast, and they’ve got a lot to talk
about. The boys have a different tribute to Isaac Hayes, The Dude one the Right,
again, reviews that "Pineapple" movie, Stu wishes his tamale wasn’t so spicy,
and The Dude will probably be struck down by lightning soon for his comments of
attending mass at Holy Name Cathedral (while it is under construction).
And
who knew Stu Gotz actually wanted to see The Scorpions? The Podcast lets
The Dude on the Right know that he doesn’t know Stu as well as he thought he
did.
Oh well.
Have fun reading and listening!
Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up! Nakedness, Lottery, Movies, and a Noid.
By:
The Dude on the Right
Sure, normally
the "Weekend Wrap-Up!" podcast with me and Stu Gotz is posted on a Monday
night, but even though we recorded this episode yesterday, a trip to the Chicago
White Sox game (where the White Sox lost – bummer) got in the way of getting it
out in the internet for all to hear, although my BFF did
get to meet Stu and Mama Gotz at The Cell for the game, and that might be a topic of
conversation for next weekend’s wrap-up. For this weekend wrap-up, though, I
tell Stu about my walking around naked on Saturday, thanks to my BFF getting me
some sandals to show off my "pedicured" feet, and I also tell Stu about a story
missed from the weekend before where my BFF and I won the lottery.
As is
normal for Stu and I, we do a lot of movie talk, with me discussing
"Mamma
Mia!," and both of us talking about "The Dark Knight," the Batman sequel where
Christian Bale is great as Bruce Wayne/Batman, except for his vocal affectations
when he is Batman, and the, as everyone else also professes, fantastic
portrayal that Heath Ledger gives The Joker. Stu has some issues with the
movie, I have none, but then again, Stu also got to see "Space Chimps," because,
well, Stu’s got kids.
TV talk is also present in this podcast, Stu is becoming
a Mac guy, and I state my case to, well, Stu, as to why I still have a "Noid,"
and why no one should ever underestimate the power of
The Noid, and
although not part of this podcast, you also shouldn’t underestimate the power of
an M&M dude getting a sun-tan, nor a wind-up Mr. Potato Head, nor a purple
armadillo, nor a plastic chick with a big sword, nor Partying Smart, nor Normy
for President, and in no way, ever, a Transformer.
That’s it for this one! I’m The Dude on the Right!! L8R!!!
What’s New? A Podcast of: Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up! The BFF Meets the Family, Lots of TV Talk, and an iPhone Update.
The Dude on the Right took his BFF to visit some of his family in the old country, while Stu Gotz missed a Cubs’ game, and those are just some of the topics they both cover in
this podcast of
“Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up!”
Sure, they also talk about miniature golf, give
a shout for The Dude’s mom to "Get well soon," the uber-coolness of the iPhone
update, and The Dude is psyched to see "The Dark Knight," but let’s not forget
Stu’s love of "Burn Notice," SCUBA, and the younger Gotz’s love of "Mr. Men."
Now if only The Dude would have talked about his and his BFF’s lottery winnings,
well, this podcast might be complete, but that might just have to wait for The
Dude chatting with The WGN, and explaining to said The WGN why opening car doors
for girls could be fixed by more-advanced, door-unlocker key fobs.
