It’s Snowing, TV Talk, Paula Abdul is Slutty, and I Wish “Hello, Hannah Montana.”

By:

The Dude on the Right

It’s snowing here, tonight, in Chicagoland, and I like the snow. Earlier today,
before

recording this podcast
, I ran into a lady who didn’t want the snow and I had
to remind her that it is still January. She complained she was old. She needs to
move.

But snow isn’t as important tonight as is the return of "Lost", the
return of "Survivor: Micronesia" next week, and I still can’t get ramped up for
the Super Bowl over the weekend. For me this year’s Super Bowl is just turning
into a weekend of Eli Manning being able to show up his brother vs. finally not
having to hear from the Miami fans, ever again, that their team is better than
any team, in any sport, in the history of the world. And as much as I still want
"American Idol" to just get to Hollywood already, it was nice seeing Paula Abdul
in a slutty-looking dress, which Simon seemed to admire, too.

The weekend seems to be bringing a buttload of crappy movies so maybe the
snow is really a blessing. It might just be time to hunker down in the Dude-Pad,
do some cleaning, and wish I had gotten tickets to the "Hannah Montana & Miley
Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert in Disney Digital 3D" movie at my local
gigaplex. At least I have her CD, thanks to iTunes. For tonight, though, I’m
done dealing with iPhone WebClips, but that’s not a story in this podcast, that
might be one for another day. I am wondering, though, with one request for a
WebClip, "What have I done?" Now you might be wondering, too.

Thanks for listening!

An Apology, Movie Talk, Some New TV and MTV, but No Stu.

By:

The Dude on the Right

Stu Gotz and I couldn’t get our schedules to meet today so I’m flying solo for

this weekend wrap-up podcast
. Starting off I do some apologizing to my mom
and anyone else who might have read the early version of yesterday’s blog where
my writing got a little blue, and not blue as in being sad. Personally I was
grumpy, and I probably should have just written about my grumpidom, but instead
the f-bomb and s-bomb showed up. Oh well. There’s also a little bit of analysis
on my movie viewing over the weekend, namely seeing “Rambo
and “Meet
the Spartans,
” but a lot of this podcast deals with TV stuff, and maybe it’s
finally time for MTV to change its name, maybe to something like ANTMMTV
(America’s Next Top Model Marathon TV). You know, thinking about it as I type
this, maybe MTV is appropriate, but instead of Music Television maybe it’s time
for them to rebrand it to Marathon Television. I wish I had thought of that as I
was recording this podcast. C’est la vie!

What’s New? A Podcast of: Get Me To Hollywood, Amy Winehouse, and TV is Back, Sort Of.

For this podcast The Dude on the Right admits that this one is kind of lame, but he does do a short parody of “Rehab” in honor of Amy Winehouse. He’s also a bit flustered with “American Idol,” is looking forward to the return of “Lost” and “Survivor” to fill up his Thursday nights, and wonders about the writer’s strike and will it ever end.

Get Me To Hollywood, Amy Winehouse, and TV is Back, Sort Of.

Fine, this might be

my lamest podcast ever
, but the things in life that should excite me, or
rather the thing in life that should excite me right now, namely "American
Idol," I am almost getting bored with. It’s the audition portion, and other than
the "I Am Your Brother" dude, it’s sort of boring. I am looking forward to the
return of "Lost" and "Survivor," so at least I’ve got that to look forward to,
and I do a quick parody of "Rehab," in honor of Amy Winehouse.

Go ahead, comment on my lameness for this podcast – I probably deserve it.

What’s New? A Podcast of: Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up! Lots of Movies, Mama Gotz’s Issues, A New Ringtone, and Peeing on a Stick.

Being away from each other for a week sure doesn’t put a kink in the conversation Stu Gotz and The Dude on the Right can put together for a “Weekend Wrap-Up” podcast, and they get right back into things for this episode. The weekends usually include a lot of movie stuff so they talk about that, Stu got a picture from Mama Gotz so they talk about that, Stu saw a pregnancy test commercial so they talk about that, The Dude has a new favorite ringtone so they listen and talk about that, and even though The Dude on the Right doesn’t give a damn about the upcoming Super Bow, they talk about that anyway. And if that isn’t enough they have other things to talk about, and they talk about that, too.

After my being away for a week
for some sadness, Stu Gotz and I are back
together for some happiness, and what better way to be happy than with a

"Weekend Wrap-Up!" podcast
. My return to normalcy has been all about movies
so I tell Stu about

"Cloverfield,"

"27 Dresses,"

"Jimmy and Judy,"
and my attempt to keep my niece innocent and wholesome by
taking her to see

"The Pirates Who Don’t Do Anything."
But while I was attempting to promote
wholesomeness it seems Stu got a provocative photo from Mama Gotz, and he also
describes a commercial he saw about a pregnancy test.

We also talk some
football during the podcast, what with the upcoming Super Bowl and all, and I
also let Stu know what I’ve changed my ringtone to for him (it’s also the new
ringtone for my nephew and sister). And, oh yea, Stu wants you to watch
"psych"
on the USA Network, and I still don’t know why.

What’s New? A Podcast of: 2008: What a Strange Year It’s Already Been

The Dude on the Right is already flabbergasted at how strange 2008 has been, and it’s only ten days in. For this podcast he leaves the family stuff for later but instead delves into Britney Spears and Dr. Phil, wants The Academy Awards to go on but only if the writers get their stuff, and now that Sony/BMG is going to let Amazon sell music/mp3s with no copyright protection, why no love yet for Apple who, sure, wanted to sell a bunch of iPods, but showed the world some people would actually buy music over the internet.
The Dude is also flustered by the elections and the influence Iowa and New Hampshire have on the entire picking a President process, but he has at least 11 reasons why he is looking forward to this season of “Survivor: Micronesia.”

2008: What a Strange Year It’s Already Been

By:

The Dude on the Right

2008 is only 10 days in and it’s already looking to be a weird year on both a
family front as well as with the world in general.

With this podcast
I leave out the family and concentrate on the world.

In
just 10 days we have seen enough Britney Spears’ news to last us the remaining
356 days, and her news even included Dr. Phil. The writer’s strike is quickly
crippling the award season, with the next casualty being The Golden Globes
telecast on Sunday, and the even bigger and more money-affecting decimation
being The Academy Awards if an agreement can’t be reached by then.

On the
election front, for me, I’m wondering if as many people in the rest of the
country are starting to get as confused as I am as to how Iowa and New Hampshire
should be the be-all and end-all to some Presidential campaigns, and then, on
the music front, suddenly all of the stars have become mis-aligned because Sony
BMG will be getting rid of copy protection on the music/mp3s it lets Amazon
sell, but what is up with Apple and their iTunes, you know, the people that
worked to actually save the recording industry in the first place?  Sure,
trying to save the record people helped Apple sell a buttload of iPods, but
suddenly some people were actually paying for music.

And lastly, the one show
I am looking for this Spring television season is "Survivor: Micronesia," and I
have 9 reasons to watch.  I suppose there are actually 11 reasons because
along with hiring a nanny, Ami’s link includes two more:
Two reasons are at this link:

www.cbs.com/primetime/survivor16/survivors/mary.shtml

Two more reasons are at this link:

www.cbs.com/primetime/survivor16/survivors/natalie.shtml

And yet two more reasons are at this link:

www.cbs.com/primetime/survivor16/survivors/tracy.shtml

Two smaller reasons are here:

www.cbs.com/primetime/survivor16/survivors/eliza.shtml

And I always wanted to hire a nanny (and there are two more reasons, for a total
of three):

What’s New? A Podcast of: Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up! Movies & TV, Britney & Lindsay, Weather & Delilah.

Stu Gotz and The Dude on the Right finally get back together after weeks of being apart to do another “Weekend Wrap-Up!” podcast. If they didn’t trim things down this podcast would probably last a few hours, but they cut things to some recent movies in the theaters as well as movies on Stu’s Netflix cue. The weekend brought huge entertainment news about the latest BUI (Britney Under the Influence) and Dr. Phil (Stu & The Dude disagree on the Dr. Phil factor), and why not talk about Lindsay Lohan’s New Year’s Eve while they’re at it. Chicago had a warm spell, and The Dude watched “American Gladiator.” And Stu still likes tormenting The Dude about the song “Hey There Delilah.” Stu can be a mean, mean, man.

Stu & The Dude’s Weekend Wrap-Up! Movies & TV, Britney & Lindsay, Weather & Delilah.

By:

The Dude on the Right

Man, those holidays on a Tuesday really screwed with our

“Stu & The Dude Weekend Wrap-Up!” podcasts
, but thankfully tomorrow is just
January 8th so Stu and I got together to reflect on weeks gone by, or at least
to talk about last weekend. Movies were a big topic of conversation as I told
him about

“One Missed Call,”
while Stu’s Netflix cue was working overtime. And as much
as movies are important, Stu and I have different views on Dr. Phil’s intrusion
into the latest BUI episode (that would be Britney Under the Influence for those
of you who don’t read our sister site,
mostlyentertainment.com), and
why not talk about Lindsay Lohan if you’re talking about Britney?

Stu’s looking forward to a lot of TV shows returning on cable, I school him
on "American Gladiators," and I still like

my concept for The Golden Globe Awards
, but the weather in Chicagoland is
still a warm topic, and as much as

I hate Delilah
I’m also starting to hate Stu’s obsessing about
my hating
Delilah
.
