Joining the Occupy Movement, Not Joining the Illinois House, Joining Theater Goers, and Not Joining Fencebuilders.

As Halloween is here, with the help of an Occupy protester and Stu Gotz, I try to decide if I’m going to join the cause after this episode of our “Weekend Wrap-Up!” podcast. Maybe I should, especially since, as Stu says, I’ve joined the Pussification of America Army during my judging of a Halloween costume contest. To redeem myself I should have, at least, impersonated a member of the Illinois House of Representatives, but alas, I stuck to a bit of honesty when asked if I were Tom Cross. Stu, meanwhile, thinks he has found out how many workers it takes to put up a fence.

Neither of us saw the #1 movie at the box office, “Puss in Boots,” but Stu made it to the theater with Mama Gotz and thought “50/50” was a decent flick. Me, however, I preferred the safety and security of the Dude-Pad, really liking “Captain America.” We both are still fans of “The Big Bang Theory” and “Beavis and Butthead,” Stu is a new fan of “Grimm,” Stu is excited because the McRib is back (for a limited time), and we both recommend backing up important pictures and hope Apple’s iCloud will also do the job for us because sometimes we can’t remember crap.

Joining things, not joining things, and more!

Here Comes Beavis & Butthead, Harold & Kumar, and Stu & The Dude!

Excitiment is in the air for Stu Gotz and me during this “Weekend Wrap-Up!” podcast as we eagerly await the return of “Beavis and Butthead” this Thursday, and another Harold & Kumar movie in a couple of weeks! We also eagerly await the return of the TV season as a lot of shows are on hiatus for the World Series even though it’s having some of the worse ratings ever.

TV and baseball aside, Stu’s weekend was one filled with pumpkins and lacrosse, while I ate something called shawarma and liked it. Yup, The Gotz’s visited a fall festival farm, complete with pumpkin launcher, and I learned that his kids also play lacrosse, but not football. Me, thanks to my wife who likes to intruduce me to different foods, I tried this stuff called shawarma from a place called Naf Naf Grill, complete with fresh pitas, and I listened to most of the Chicago Bears trouncing of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (which is what you put under you Buccenhat), and yes, I know, it was pretty much just a victory, but it was fun to hear them win. I also spent my weekend contemplating the new changes coming to the Catholic Mass that is supposed to get us closer to God, or at least spent my weekend wondering why the church was making said changes.

Stu witnessed a stupid janitor that I thought was a genius, I had a great experience with a Genius at the Apple Store, Stu thought Bridesmaids could have been a little better, and I explain to Stu to expalin to Mama Gotz how to make sure she doesn’t miss a minute of “The Good Wife” with her DVR, as apposed to watching episodes online, that seem to be here even though Stu said he couldn’t find them.

Losing in Las Vegas, Loving Storage Wars, Horrible Bosses, and iPhone Envy.

By: The Dude on the Right

Both Stu Gotz and I were supposed to go to Las Vegas and this “Weekend Wrap-Up!” podcast was supposed to be filled with stories of debauchery and missing memories, but sadly he was the only one to make it as a stomach flu sidelined my travel plans. From the sounds of it, Stu needed me out there to mix things up a bit, as everyone knows I am the party animal, but in any case, Stu gives his wrap-up of the Vegas fun, complete with the wedding of staff member The Dude on the Left to Trash. Me, on the other hand, spent way too many days catching up on everything from Ellen (nice little Glen Campbell interview) to The X-Factor (could Enrique Iglesias look any more disinterested), from Survivor: Somewhere Warm (the blind-siding has begun) to Storage Wars (a new favorite show, and a better watch than the last Saturday Night Live).

I have my new iPhone 4S and Boner doesn’t, I liked Horrible Bosses and Stu sort of liked Hall Pass, Stu is losing his fan-boy love for House and my new iPhone’s Siri knows where my house is – and it’s kind of scary.

All of that and yes, popsicles are still a good remedy for the stomach flu.

Kids at a Farm, Disturbing SNL, No Marathon Running for Us, One Last Carnival, and Assburgers.

I wish you could hear the original open for this “Weekend Wrap-Up!” podcast because it was smooth, perfect, and I hit the post for a very fun Billy Currington song, but sadly there was a computer hiccup that messed up recording the perfect version, and you get this one. Oh well. it is a weekend wrap-up, and neither Stu Gotz nor myself ran in the Chicago Marathon, and that’s probably why both of us are functioning, but Stu wonders about the woman winner of the marathon and the use of these dudes called “Pacers.” He also wonders if Lady Antebellum’s singer blew out her voice, but then realizes it might be Adele and I have to fill Stu in on some Saturday Night Live and some disturbing skits they showed.

With the season of Autumn upon us, Stu had time for one last carnival, and we analyze little kid’s attention spans that I witnessed at Johansen Farms pumpkin patch/corn maze/hay ride/giant slides/petting zoo place in Bolingbrook, IL., and Stu is iffy on a couple of new TV shows.

The Chicago Bears are tonight so we didn’t have Bear talk, but South Park is back and Cartman’s got assburgers. Of course we both laugh.

Herman Cain v Samuel L. Jackon, iPhone 5 v iPhone 4, Bears v Panthers, and More v More.

I have Schweddy Balls and during this podcast episode of our “Weekend Wrap-Up!”, I tell Stu how I got them, and I also compare Herman Cain and Samuel L. Jackson, an idea that I stole from the Roe & Roeper radio show here in Chicago. Balls and stealing radio bits aside, this podcast also has Stu explaining why he is a poor example of a gentleman, while I am super-excited because tomorrow is the release of the iPhone 5, or maybe the iPhone 4s, or maybe the iPhone 4 but with better stuff, or maybe Apple announcing there will be a new phone that talks – who cares, Apple is having an announcement and I’ll be there, in spirit, through my computer watching people blog about it.

The Chicago Bears, as Stu puts it, almost snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, “Pulp Fiction” comes out on Blu-ray tomorrow (October 4th), Stu is worried about “Terra Nova” and “Pan Am,” I’m looking forward to the return of “Chuck” at the end of October, Stu wants more TV, and we seem to be in movie-release limbo.

Looking back on it we didn’t do too much this past weekend, but we talk about a lot of stuff!

New TV & Old TV, Sucky Bears & Sucky Shoes, Getting Wet & Getting A New iPhone.

By: The Dude on the Right

The fall television season has begun, and for this “Weekend Wrap-Up!” podcast, Stu Gotz and I break down the return of “Two and a Half Men,” “The Big Bang Theory,” “Saturday Night Live,” and my lack of seeing the current “Survivor.” Then there are the new shows, and I explain to Stu that “Pan Am” is a good show, especially because it portrays how a stewardess should be, Stu is worried that some shows like “Up All Night” and “Person of Interest” might easily lose steam if they are even able to build an audience at all, and we discuss “The X Factor” and a naked man.

The Chicago Bears lost even with a trick play that reminded me of my football days, lots of people have seen “The Smurfs” movie and we don’t know why, I can’t decide whether I should see a funny movie about cancer (“50/50”) or a movie about baseball (“Moneyball”), I went shoe shopping and was denied by both Nordstrom and Zappos, Stu Gotz got wet and it didn’t even have to do with his wishing his Lil’ Gotz a happy birthday today, and I recommend you start getting in line now to buy a new iPhone on October 14th.

It was a busy weekend, let alone week!

Stu Gotz is Back, Movie Talk Abounds, An Emmy Awards Re-cap, Oysters, and Mussels.

By: The Dude on the Right

Things are back to normal as Stu Gotz is here for our “Weekend Wrap-Up!” podcast, and the Chicago Bears still suck. Yup, Stu and I finally reunite after a couple of weeks of not being able to hook up, and Stu has seen a lot of movies since the last time we chatted. So, Stu gives us his quick take on “Our Idiot Brother,” “Everything Must Go,” and “Thor,” while I refresh Stu in my watching of “Lourdes” and “X-Men: First Class.” Movies isn’t all we have to talk about, as Stu at some oysters and got cut up by some mussels, while I got to do some fence repair.

We have a detailed wrap-up of the Emmy Awards from the night before, and I have to tell Stu that no, he wasn’t hearing things because there was some kind of annoying sound effect/ringtone going off during the entire broadcast. We are both looking forward to the return of the Fall TV season, though we are both sad because for whatever reason, well, mostly because of self-destructing TiVo’s, both Stu and I are down to being able to record only two shows at one time, and needed to share some of this recording time with our respective spouses.

It was great to have Stu back for the podcast, but even greater is that next weekend the Chicago Bears play the Green Bay Packers, possibly solidifying an opening sound effect for the podcast!

Get Ready to Get Source Code, Zookeeper is Fine, Stu Hates the Heat, and I Didn’t Wear a Captain’s Hat.

So Steve Dahl, radio dude in Chicago, announced he will be charging $9.95/month for an unregulated and uncensored podcast starting in August, but we’ve got your unregulated, and since Stu drops an s-bomb in less than one minute during our “Weekend Wrap-Up!”, I guess you could also call it uncensored, podcast right here! All for free! And if this seems like a shameless mention to plug the Stever’s new business model, and maybe get us a hit or two on a search, so be it.

In any case, for this episode, Stu Gotz and I recollect that there are many movies we know all of the words to, like “Caddyshack,” yet if we were to try and do some calculus – forget it! “Caddyshack” was on my mind as I made a trip to the Chicago Yacht Club for some family bonding over the weekend, while Stu finally had enough family bonding, in the heat, humidity, and buggyness of a Saturday, and retreated to the air-conditioned comfort of the Gotz tenement-on-wheels.

On the movie front, I give a high recommendation for “Source Code” when it comes out on Blu-ray on July 26th, while Stu says that if you have kids you will probably do okay at “Zookeeper” as long as you expect exactly what you find in the trailer.

I’m back watching “Big Brother,” Stu wonders how many seasons of it there have been and I can’t help him, the Chicago Cubs are probably happy the All-Star break has hit as they seem to be on their way to a 74-110 record (Okay, I know there are only 162 games, at least I do now as I did some research, but I thought the All-Star break was at the mid-point of the season, so I suppose I should say a 65 and 97, but hey, who’s counting?), and somehow I watched a little bit of “Doctor Who,” to which I also found out Stu knows Doctor Who like some people know Star Trek.

Hopefully, next week, Stu will give his final thoughts on the “Harry Potter” series as the 2nd part of The Deathly Hallows opens this week, but who knows what next weekend has in store, all I know is that this weekend is done!

Happy Birthday America, Beastly is Bad, Whitey’s is Good, Burn Notice is Back and Everyone Loves a Parade!

By: The Dude on the Right

As a founding member of T.G.A., I explain to Stu Gotz during our "Weekend Wrap-up!" podcast that I am due some sanctions for missing the latest "Transformers" movie, especially when it was in lieu of driving to Moline, IL, in search of ice cream at Whitey’s and then finding some good ribs at "Jim’s Rib Haven" in nearby Quad City, Rock Island. Stu, happily, still has all of his digits after the 4th of July weekend, probably because he let the professionals set off the fireworks, and also controlling himself from getting into any altercations with White Sox fans during a Crosstown Classic game at Wrigley Field. I saw a small-time looking parade in a city that isn’t small-time, Stu is happy that "Burn Notice" is back, I’m sad that " Men of a Certain Age" is almost over for the summer, and Stu saw some movies that are old – but at least from the 2000’s, and doesn’t recommend "Beastly," at all.

Hopefully all of you have all of your digits left and your hearing is able to listen to our podcast, because even with all of this, somehow we also talk about more!

Eating Chocolate Cake, Hopping at Two Brothers Brewing, Driving to Camp, Ogling a Woman, and Watching Cyrus.

By: The Dude on the Right

I’m still trying to figure out why a diet can’t include chocolate cake, and during this "Weekend Wrap-Up!" podcast, Stu Gotz can’t seem to figure out why not, either. And even though beer is also a big topic of Stu’s weekend, thanks to a trip to Two Brothers Brewing, we don’t talk only about food and drink, but also about Stu sending a Little Gotz to camp, how I was a swimming champ, and about dudes ogling a woman in f-me shoes at a gas station. We reminisce on the passing of Clarence Clemons and Ryan Dunn, Stu is watching TV on BBC America again (He’s still trying to get me to watch "The In-Betweeners"), I let you know if the movie "Cyrus" is worth a rental, and neither of us really care about this year’s Crosstown Classic here in Chicago, between the Cubs and the White Sox, especially since neither of us have tickets for the series when its at The Cell. Maybe that will change when it ends up at Wrigley Field in a couple of weeks.

All of that and more, and thanks for listening!
