Kid’s Parties, Parade Love, Butterflies, Survivor, but No Movies, sort of.

There could have been a wrinkle in my pristine reputation that I’ve been trying to build with my future in-laws, and during this episode of our “Weekend Wrap-Up!” podcast, I tell Stu how a South Park song could have ruined it all! Okay, my reputation isn’t that pristine, but Cartman singing about Kyle’s mom probably wouldn’t be song neither my future mom-in-law nor dad-in-law would ever listen to, and would have probably garnered some looks, but during a cleaning Saturday, it could have happened. Stu, though, diverting the topic from dirty songs, sings the praises of the structure of “South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut,” much to my agreement.

Meanwhile, as weekends go, Stu’s was chock full of excitement and analysis with:

  • A trip to Chuck E Cheese
  • A trip to a butterfly festival
  • Eating oysters for the first time
  • and getting ready for the fall TV season

As far as me, I dissect to Stu my weekend of:

  • Being loved at a parade
  • Loving the new season of “Survivor: Nicaragua” with Jimmy Johnson
  • and seeing a gallon jug full of something that was probably pee.

Stu didn’t see any movies, I didn’t see any movies, we might see “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps” next weekend, and neither of us will probably ever see “Waiting for Superman” even though Oprah seems to endorse it and tweeted that only we can stop the downward spiral. And let’s not forget, that in our 20 minutes, we also discuss the conflicting stories that the various trailers for “Megamind” seem to be telling.

A Teepee, Crappy Movies, Broccoli, iPads, and Sushi.

I was worried that Stu Gotz was kicked out of the Gotz household, but during this edition of our “Weekend Wrap-Up!” podcast, I find out that Stu just wanted to build a teepee! Yup, Stu is getting in touch with his American Indian heritage, even though he has none, and he put up a big ol’ wigwam in the Gotz yard. The kids love it, but I worry he doesn’t see the future picture of Mama Gotz saying “You’re sleeping in the teepee tonight!”, especially with Stu not being that great at negotiating skills with his kids involving a piece of broccoli and an iPad.

Neither of us saw a movie in the theater, but that didn’t stop us from catching up on DVD stuff with Stu and Mama Gotz watching “2012” and “Heartbreak Kid,” while I watched “My Life in Ruins” with my BFF, and both of us thought it was all over the place, and kind of stupid, although in her world it still wasn’t that bad because it was under two hours with a happy ending.

I ate Sushi, a Little Gotz ate broccoli, Stu didn’t watch TV, and I’m recommending “The Real Housewives of Washington D.C.” What has happened to me?

And, yes, I realize “Deep Impact” was an asteroid movie. The movie I was thinking about was “Dante’s Peak.”

Dinner for Schmucks, Cats and Dogs, Apple Camp, and Cold as a Witches…

By: The Dude on the Right

Our “Weekend Wrap-Up!” podcast brings to light that both Stu Gotz and I saw movies this weekend, albeit different movies, and Stu is sitting on a movie (The Invention of Lying) that Mama Gotz isn’t sure who the lead dude is! Me, I saw “Dinner For Schmucks” and sort of liked it, liked the food at the Hollywood Palms Theater in Naperville, IL, but didn’t like the fact that it was colder than a witches tit in the theater and the theater is not set up for snuggling so my BFF froze her ass off. Stu, meanwhile, was with his kiddies catching “Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kittie Galore,” but not in 3-D.

Stu is confused with his TV watching, what with “Doctor Who” being done for the season, but lucky for him he still has “Burn Notice” and “Psych,” because Stu is all about cable. Meanwhile, I’m really sucked into “Big Brother something or other,” even though I don’t really know any of the people’s names, I’m still liking Howie Mandell on “America’s Got Talent,” and both Stu and I wonder what will happen to “American Idol” now that Ellen is gone, Kara is supposedly gone, and J. Lo will be taking a seat in the judge’s chair.

Stu sent his kid to Apple Camp, I did a lot of work, Stu has a visitor in town, and my high school reunion isn’t on the same day as a Bon Jovi concert this time, although I still probably can’t go and it’s not my BFF’s fault, as Stu tries to imply.

The weekends go by so fast, and we talk about them… Thanks for listening!

An S&M Sunday, Port-O-Potties, Dr. Who is Who, and Being Super Macho

Although a lot of Chicago ended up flooded, happily myself and Stu Gotz detail, during our “Weekend Wrap-Up!” podcast, our survival tips, or rather our “We were just lucky” tips, of the Chicago flood of 2010. Stu fought the flooding by braving the elements during a camping trip, while I fought them with being oblivious, and although no worse for wear, Stu does have some issues with his air conditioning which hopefully are getting repaired as we speak.

Rain didn’t seem to dampen either of our weekends as Stu continued his investigative reporting of how to have fun with your kids at a demolition derby, and in tonight’s episode we find out about taking your Little Gotz into a port-a-potty, and how it might be the woman’s fault for the mess. Me, as the big day draws closer, a lot of me is about getting married, and finding wedding bands took precedence this weekend, and chatting with our priest for the wedding.

Stu went diving, I did mopping; Stu thinks Dr. Who is Doctress Who, and I think some dude in this summer’s Big Brother is a genius. And, well, neither of us has still seen “Inception,” and neither of us will being trying “Super Macho,” with all of its bull semen supposed goodness.

Bad Days for Tiger and Nicolas, Passing a Test, Summer TV, and Who Are Ramona and Beezus?

By: The Dude on the Right

During this edition of our “Weekend Wrap-Up!” podcast, I let Stu Gotz know that my BFF and I passed our marriage test yet he seems more concerned about a weekend drinking excursion rather than my future happiness. I would expect no less from my buddy! As weekends go for me it was pretty simple, with some marriage planning, including renting a tuxedo and realizing that it’s one of the biggest rackets in the clothing industry, and learning to hang some drywall. Stu, on the other hand, seemed to have a good time with said drinking excursion with Mama Gotz, Stinky, The Dude on the Left, and Trash, and somehow he also fit in a trip to the movies with the Little Gotz’s, going to see “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice,” and a snuggly trip with Mama Gotz to see “Twilight: Eclipse.”

Stu is sad the current season of Doctor Who is almost over, he thinks he won’t like “Burn Notice” in ten years if he tries to watch a rerun, and he makes fun of me for watching “Bethany Getting Married,” or whatever the name of the show is with that Bethany chick who used to be a New York housewife, or something like that.

Neither of us seem committed to seeing “Salt” next weekend, nor “Ramona & Beezus,” but I do know some more marriage preparation should be taking place, and Stu is planning on some canoeing, but I don’t see multiple cases of beer as used to be the case many, many moons ago.

Ribfest, Cub’s Game, Friends, Movies, Lebron, and TV – It Must be The 4th of July!

By: The Dude on the Right

Download and ListenDownload the Podcast!

It was the 4th of July weekend, and Stu Gotz and I are on Lebron Watch! Okay, we really aren’t, but during this podcast episode of our “Weekend Wrap-Up!” we do talk about Lebron James and his signing with the Chicago Bulls, or Cleveland Caveliers, or maybe he’ll just retire – wouldn’t that be a hoot!

We both did, however, have a nice 4th of July weekend (and hope yours was nice as well), with Stu catching a Chicago Cubs game, me attending Ribfest in Naperville, IL, and while I watched a George Clooney movie about goats via my Netflix, Stu caught some old episodes of the TV show “Dead Like Me.” He also caught “Grown Ups,” which from his description, thankfully I napped instead of heading to the theater.

I did find out I could have watched “Hot Tub Time Machine” on the cheap via my Comcast On-Demand, I realized I screwed up because “Descipable Me” comes out this weekend, and neither of us really cared about the “Twilight” vampire movie that made tons of money at the box office.

A long weekend, but sadly not long enough I say!

Secure Your Domain, Movies All Over the Place, 3-D Sucks Except for Maybe Toy Story,Frontierville, and Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon!

Was “Prince of Persia” any good? Should you rent “When in Rome?” Why am I sort of watching “Burn Notice?” Well, you will find out the answers to all of these questions, and more, during this episode of the “Weekend Wrap-Up!” podcast!

As the podcast starts, though, my weekend was lazing, at least Sunday, and I reminisce with Stu Gotz about the first album I ever bought, Queen’s “Night at the Opera,” while he actually reels me in to a bad joke about Oprah that he heard while officiating the nuptuals of a couple in love. We do discuss TV, because it’s what we do, and Stu finally caught up on the MTV Movie Awards and realizes he’s old, while I was half-interested in “Burn Notice,” although sadly Zynga’s latest game for Facebook, Frontierville, has caught my attention. There is an abundance of movie-talk, also, with my early Blu-ray review of “When In Rome,” Stu went into a theater for “Prince of Persia,” he watched a Netflix movie I had but never watched called “500 Days of Summer,” and Stu is not excited about 3-D movies, anymore, except maybe the upcoming “Toy Story 3.”

Stu wonders when I’m getting a new iPhone, I’m wondering why weddings cost so much, Stu recommends a tuxedo place, and there’s a good lesson as to why you should secure your domain name for as long as possible, especially when the police are involved.

How do we fit so much into 20 minutes of podcasting? No commercials! Actually, I don’t know how, but we do, so sit back, have a listen, and feel free to weigh in with what you think!

“Get Him to the Greek” is Good, The BP Oil Spill is Bad; Howie Mandel is Funny, Jimmy Buffett seems Sad.

By: The Dude on the Right

Our “Weekend Wrap-Up!” podcast is a day late because Stu Gotz was on a fact-finding mission to Key Largo, but I think he just wanted some time away from kids so he could spend quality time with Mama Gotz, or maybe just go diving. As Stu tells it, he was on a mission to check out the reefs in the area prior to them being contaminated by the BP oil spill, but he really seemed to talk more about the local spots he and Mama Gotz visited where the only fish they saw were the ones that ended up in their belly and they serve a lot of Bud Light.

SCUBA diving aside, I tell Stu if “Get Him to the Greek” is any good (It is!), and we both discuss the failings and not-so-failings going on at the launch of the new iPhone at the Apple WWDC. I find out that Stu isn’t a fan of Andy Ihnatko, a tech writer for the Chicago Sun Times, whereas I enjoy his articles, Stu is excited that “Burn Notice” is coming back, and I don’t care, I think Howie Mandel is a great judge on “America’s Got Talent,” Stu likes “Supernatural,” Jimmy Buffett seems sad, and it looks like graduation parties will be a part of my life for many years to come!

And to wrap up the podcast summary, during this podcast you can find out which one of us is excited about the new “The A-Team” movie, if either of us want to see the new “Karate Kid,” and how I’m hoping for the Chicago Blackhawks to win the Stanley Cup this year because I need to shave.

Reviews of Movies You’ve Seen, I’m Watching The Bachelorette, No Dr. Who, and Happy Birthday Jacques Cousteau!

By: The Dude on the Right

I finally saw “Iron Man 2,” and Stu Gotz finally saw “Iron Man 2,” so a month after it came out, during this episode of our “Weekend Wrap-Up!” podcast, we tell you if you liked it when you already saw it. Me, I also saw “The Blind Side” and let Stu know if he should catch it, while Stu at least also saw something current, namely “Shrek Forever After” and comments on how it stacks up in the “Shrek” series.

There is also TV on our podcast menu as Stu is confused about why there didn’t seem to be a new “Dr. Who” episode (any help is appreciated as Stu is too lazy to actually find out), I was one of the few people watching “The Bachelorette” instead of the Chicago Blackhawks going for The Stanley Cup, and now that “American Idol” is pretty much done forever, especially with the failed Ellen experiment and Simon Cowell leaving, I’m looking forward to “America’s Got Talent” this summer.

Stu saw cars crash at a demolition derby, I got creeped out by people with germs, Stu says you can get a free movie rental from Redbox, and I give my tribute to John Denver and Jacques Cousteau all in one (Jacques would be 100 years old this month, and John, well, he’d be something like 66, but they’re both still dead)! Aye, Calypso!

Pre-Cana Talk, Canada Talk, Blackhawk Talk, TV Talk, Diving Talk, and More Talk.

I can get married, so says the Catholic Church, at least so far, and during this episode of our “Weekend Wrap-Up!” podcast I tell Stu Gotz how my BFF and I made it through our Pre-Cana training/seminar/class, or as I call it, our day of love. Yup, I let Stu know how our weekend changed from a weekend of love to a day of love (even though it’s actually a lifetime of love), how health is important in a marriage, or at least healthy insurance, and even though I don’t say it right, I wonder why the class didn’t focus as much on the reason we were able to have our class in one day and address those reasons, rather than some discussing of the already seemingly obvious. Oh well.

Stu, on the other hand, made a trip to the Great White North, and it wasn’t even for hockey (Woo Blackhawsk! – Heading to the Stanley Cup finals, or whatever they are calling it). Yup, he had a diving seminar to give, and according to Stu, it turns out his advice on underwater photography is very good, especially for those just getting started, or even for those just wanting to take a great picture. His trip also facilitated him seeing a movie, namely “The Tooth Fairy,” thanks to the airplane, and he lets us know if it’s a fine, family film.

I tell Stu about Brett Michaels winning The Celebrity Apprentice, neither of us saw the final Lost episode although I have it TiVo’d, we lament that Monk won’t be on TV this summer, and Stu most likely won’t be seeing “Sex In the City 2,” although he is going to see James Taylor and Carol King and will hopefully give his review of the show next week.

Memorial Day is coming up next Monday so our podcast will be bumped a day or so, but in the meantime Happy Summer – it’s coming on strong.
