Alright, sure, this will be a movie masterpiece. Most likely in the
Oscar contention. Why? It’s got Martin Scorsese directing, and
Leonardo “I’ve been screwed out of so many Oscars I don’t know what
role to take” DiCaprio. Both look great in this movie. Will it be a
blockbuster? Maybe, but I don’t think so, because, really, who wants
to bust out and see a movie about old gangs fighting each other in New
York.
The movie is simply about how things start to get set up in New
York, how the Irish realize they have the numbers to take control in
New York, and you’ve also got a love story, which is really the only
reason why the ladies might want to see this film. The bad thing for
that is it’s probably going to be rated R, keeping away the recurring
teen crowd, consistently seeing the movie because Leonardo is so
dreamy.
Seriously, though, this looks to be a great movie, with all of the
right people involved. Money-wise, I don’t think it will get there,
but for people who look forward to a great movie, Martin Scorsese
knows just what to do. I’m thinking this is going to end up being one
of those movies where you should just keep the teens at home and enjoy
a great movie. It should be violent, it has to be, but let Scorsese
tell the story and enjoy it.
As much as I don’t want to say it, this looks to be a must see at
the Christmas season. I’m looking for a little more info as we get
closer to the release date.
