I’m sorry, I’m not six year’s old, although at times some people
might think I am, but I must admit that I am really sick of “Scrat.”
At the end of “Ice Age,” I wasn’t, and maybe after his coming
adventures in “Ice Age 2: The Meltdown,” well, I’ll love him again,
but I’m tired of his being used for the teaser trailer of “Ice Age
2.” The teaser trailer doesn’t say much, but the web site says the
story follows our heroes, Diego, Manny, and Sid, and that the ice
age is over. All is well as their new world emerges, but eventually
they figure out that all is not well, that all of the melting ice
needs someplace to go, and that someplace is the valley they have
been calling home. It’s up to our heroes to figure out a way to warn
everyone else as well as figure out a way to get to higher ground.
The first one was cute, and yes, I even loved Scrat in that one,
and as long as the storytelling stays consistent, this one has lots
of potential, even if the trailer doesn’t tell the story yet, just
showing Scrat, again trying to get the acorn. The kids will insist
you see it, hopefully they keep some fun jokes for adults.
