It's 1:32 Long

A Review by
The Dude on the Right
Is America tired of dinosaurs? Well if the weekend box office is any indication we still like dinosaur movies, or at least the Jurassic Park series.

This time we get "Jurassic Park III" and once again we get a bunch of stupid people on an island with dinosaurs that are looking to eat them. Paul (William H. Macy) and Amanda (Tea Leoni) Kirby hire Dr. Grant (Sam Neill) on an expedition to Site B of Jurassic-land. Dr. Grant thinks it’s just a fly-over so the rich folks can see some dinosaurs, but our duo is actually on a rescue mission to find their son who disappeared on the island. Wouldn’t you know it, their plane lands, everyone realizes that landing on the island is a bad idea so they try to take off, and sadly they crash. Now it’s a survival mission combined with the proud parents still hoping to find their son. And do you really need to know any more about this movie other than the big-bad dinosaurs are looking to eat our human friends. No, you’re going to see it anyway because it’s a Jurassic Park movie so I’ll leave the synopsis at that.

Sam Neill is great again reprising his role as the dinosaur man and even Laura Dern returns as Ellie, looking great as ever, but she’s smart enough to stay in the states. But again it’s the dino’s that steal the show. This time the raptors can talk to each other, this time we get a super-predator that’s a little more menacing than a T-Rex, and this time we get pteranodons (big-ass flying birds) that escape from their giant birdcage and Amanda warns they better not go to Oklahoma. No one else seems worried that these giant birds are loose – but I guess that should lead us to Jurassic Park IV.

In the end "Jurassic Park III" is a movie of exactly what you expect and want from a dinosaur movie. The dinosaurs are scary, the people are stupid yet somehow survive, and this movie was the perfect length at 90 minutes because any longer and the "dino's chase people, people escape, people find other dino’s, dino’s chase people, people escape, people find another dino, etc.," would have gotten old really fast. I’ll give "Jurassic Park III" 3 ½ stars out of 5. You’ll get most of what you’d expect.

That’s it for this one! I’m The Dude on the Right!! L8R!!!
