The M. Night man supposedly wrote the original concept for this
movie for his kids. That should make it a little less scary than
some of his other films, I’m guessing, but knowing the M. Night man,
and I call him that only because it is too hard to keep writing
Shyamalan correctly, this movie will still have some nice twists and
turns.
The trailer doesn’t really tell much, as you would expect from
the M. Night man. Pretty much we get an apartment building manager
dude, Cleveland (Paul Giamatti), finding a, well, lady in the water
of the pool. According to the synopsis I found this lady is played
by Bryce Dallas Howard (you might remember her from “The Village,”
with the M. Night man using actors and actresses from previous
movies in his latest films, as the M. Night man is want to do). She
needs to get back to her world, but there is peril in the way, and
somehow the folks in the apartment building need to work together to
get her there before the deadly creature stops her from returning
home. Sure, Cleveland falls in love with the Lady, but who wouldn’t,
and that is sure to cause a problem, too.
The M. Night man has, for me, always put out solid movies for me,
and I don’t care what anyone else thinks. I’m guessing this one
won’t be anything but a solid movie, trying to keep me guessing, but
in the end having me go, “Yea, I see it now!” That’s what the M.
Night man does. Hopefully he just keeps doing it.
