Sometimes “Chick Flick Alert” isn’t enough. Sometimes you
have to go to “Artsy Chick Flick Alert”, and if any movie is giving
that alert it’s “Le Divorce.” Just look at who’s in it. We’ve got the
likes of Kate Hudson, Naomi Watts, Glenn Close, Stockard Channing, and
Bebe Neuwirth. That should speak enough, but add that it’s from Fox
Searchlight Pictures and that adds the artsy part.
Pretty much you get two American sisters in Paris. Roxy (Watts) is
pregnant and can’t stand her husband while Isabel (Hudson) is hooked
up with a married French dude. Oh yea, get this, the French dude is
the uncle of Roxy’s husband. Yea, you get romance, scandal, and well,
it’s in France, so you can also figure in the artsy thing.
There do seem to be some cute things in this movie, but it looks to
be definitely geared at the dudettes who want a feeling of culture.
I doubt I’ll see this one as “S.W.A.T.” opens at the same time,
that and the fact that it will probably be a limited release which
means I’d have to drive into the city to catch the film. It does have
potential for the dudettes, though, so we’ll see how far this one
goes.
