A Movie Preview |

An epic film set for release on December 25th can only be about one
thing – trying to get an Oscar.
This time we get Colin Farrell playing Captain John Smith, you
know, the dude who founded the Jamestown settlement that kinda helped
the United States get going, and some dudette named Q’orianka Kilcher
playing the role as Pocahontas. Yup, it’s the British trying to settle
in a new land, and the Native Americans thinking we could all live in peace and
harmony, or at least fighting a little not realizing the power of the
British.
And, oh yea, there might be something going on between John Smith
and Pocahontas.
It’s a little funny because the one press thing says this movie is
inspired by the legend of John Smith, but the Virginia backdrop is
historically accurate. Is this supposed to mean the movie takes a lot
of liberties with the truth, but at least the scenery is probably true
to the time period? That’s my guess, so at this point I hope the kids
aren’t going to see this movie so they don’t have to read their
history books.
In any case, the Director, Terrence Malick, had some success and
accolades with “The Thin Red Line” so that’s a plus, and it is set for
November so that means it is supposed to be good. There’s lots of
potential for this one, we’ll just have to see if it will live up to
the hype it will probably start to get as the movie gets near its
release date.
That’s it for this preview! I’m The Dude on the Right!! L8R!!! |
