In the Chicago area much a to-do was made about the filming of "Public Enemies," mostly because a lot of it was filmed here and in the surrounding states, because after all, it is about John Dillinger. That doesn't necessarily make it a great movie (although it will always look good), but the trailer looks great, and lord knows Johnny Depp is a kick-ass actor, so most likely this has tons of potential.
Pretty much the story is straightforward - The Feds are after John Dillinger and some other crime bosses in the 1930's, and this movie tells the tale, with some Hollywood-ness thrown in to make us even more entertained. A decent sounding cast is on board (Depp, Christian Bale, Giovanni Ribisi, Channing Tatum), and Depp looks great in the role, and to top it off, Michael Mann is directing, who is no slouch behind the camera.
If what we need right before the 4th of July is an R-rated gangster movie with one of the great actors of our day, we got it coming because the trailer looks great.
