I never saw the first “The Ring” only knowing that if you
watched a video tape you were going to die, and then enjoying the
spoof of it in “Scary Movie 3.” In any case, we get a sequel where
again, watching a video leads to bad things, I guess.
The summary I read said a lot more than the trailer I saw,
basically saying that these people move to a little town, there’s a
homicide, and the lead dudette, who works for the newspaper,
investigates it, somehow a videotape is involved, her son ends up in
the hospital, she’s blamed for beating her kid, and now she has to
figure out exactly what the hell is going on. And then everyone in the
theater is supposed to be afraid.
It’s a spooky movie, and the first one was a big hit, so the sequel
seemed assured. We’ll see if it measures up to the original.
