Alrighty, somehow a Civil War ship made its way to a desert region of
West Africa with some riches in the cargo hold, or is it something
dangerous instead. In any case, Matthew McConaughey is Dirk, he’s an
explorer who starts to zone in on the location of this mystery ship.
He’s got Al (Steve Zahn) as his partner, he’s supposed to be the funny
one with all of the good lines (and Steve Zahn usually does pretty
well at this), and then there is the Doctor (Penelope Cruz) who is
trying to figure out why people in Africa are dying. Or something like
that. I say “Or something like that” because the trailer shows this as
an adventure movie, whereas some of the other sites with movie
synopsis’ say that Dirk is dispatched to find the cause of some weird
diseases and finding the ship ends up being part of the mission.
I don’t know, part of me is thinking this movie has some potential,
and then the other part of me dismisses this as another try to be like
“Raiders of the Lost Ark.” McConaughey seems like a good fit for what
looks like a fun role, and like I said Zahn is a pretty funny dude, so
I’ll probably try to catch this one.
