Hmmm? Tobey Maguire is doing his best not to be
pigeonholed as Spider-Man, so what does he do? He sets himself up for
this drama set in the Great Depression. Things are bad for everyone
but then comes this horse named Seabiscuit and now the nation has
something to rally around. It must have been one bitchin’ horse.
The movie is based on a book about this horse, and because I don’t
usually read books, well, I suppose I’ll have to wait for the film,
but the latest trailer really shows why there seems to be Oscar
mentions about the movie. Pretty much you have a horse that
shouldn't be able to keep up with the big boys, you've got a jockey
(Maguire) who can't see out of one eye and is really too big to be a
jockey, and you've got an epic movie that may not prove to be the
thing for those who would rather see "Terminator 3," but should appeal
to just about everyone else, old and young alike. After the
latest trailer this has moved up a notch on the "looking forward to
seeing" scale.
