The Dude on the Right
When I first saw the movie poster for “The Seed of Chucky” I immediately thought to myself, as I’m sure many others did, “Why?” And then I saw the trailer, and I said to myself, “Self, why?” And then I read a synopsis of the movie and said “What?” Then I thought again to myself, “Self, this movie is about a doll that comes to life and kills people. Does it really matter if the story make sense?” I agreed with myself, “Self, probably not.”

Look, from what I read there is a movie being made about the legend of Chucky and Tiffany. Glen, the offspring of the two dolls, goes to Hollywood to bring his doll parents back from the dead, where, of course they start killing people. Glen, a kinder and gentler doll, isn’t happy with his parent’s antics, much to the dismay of Chucky who figured Glen to be a chip off the old doll. Then, as it turns out, Tiffany loves that the movie will star her favorite actress, Jennifer Tilly (playing herself and also doing Tiffany’s voice), and, ominously, the synopsis says Tilly will become “an unwitting hostess” to the new family, from what I see as some kind of doll/human sex.

Okay, the Chucky series isn’t always as much of a horror film as it also ends up being more of a funny movie than scary. The doll is always creepy, lots of people get whacked, so I suppose if you’re a fan of the Chucky franchise, the story isn’t always what matters. What matters is that Chucky lives up to his reputation, and with the writer being the same, you can probably expect that.

That’s it for this preview! I’m The Dude on the Right!! L8R!!!
