What do you get when you take Bette Midler,
someone I usually find totally annoying on screen (not that that is
bad, it's usually the perfect character), and Dennis Farina, who I
seem to always picture as a cop, put them together in a film about
two divorced people at a wedding, and they want to get back together?
Well, that seems to be the premise of "That Old Feeling."
This one's supposed to be a romantic comedy about an ex-husband
and ex-wife who have been divorced for some 15 years and happy as
long as each of them are no where near the other one. Well, as luck
would have it their daughter is getting married, her fiancé wants a
big ol' fashioned wedding, and mom and dad find that they still don't
get along, but also find themselves getting all hot for each other
again.
From the looks of it, Bette is cast in one of those roles she
seems to do great at, for no better term, a bitch, and Dennis Farina,
well, we'll have to wait and see. The movie looks to have potential
as long as it doesn't get too mushy. I'm hoping they keep the ex's
fighting even while their back sleeping with each other otherwise the
sappiness factor will kick in and probably ruin it. It's got
potential to be funny, I hope they don't screw it up.
