Next up - Foo Fighters, and I think that this was one
of the more anticipated beginnings of a set than any of
the other bands because as soon as the MC came out to introduce the
band, I believe it was Whipping Boy but it ain't in my notes, the
entire crowd rose to their feet in extreme expectation. Foo Fighters
came out and opened with "This is A Call to All My" (I
think that is the name of it, just call me stupid). It rocked, but I
think a bunch of the audience was trying to figure out exactly what
the hell it was that the lead guitarist was wearing. It was a bright
orange outfit, and appeared to be all leather. It was very
interesting to see a guy on stage with these bright orange leather
pants and a matching vest to boot. I haven't seen leather pants in
quite a while, and this pair gave me quite the chuckle. Anyhoo, Foo
Fighters did a pretty good job of keeping the crowd into their music
all the way through the set. The one thing I didn't like about the
set was the tease of a Black Sabbath tune. They asked whether or not
any one in the crowd had heard of Sabbath, and then proceeded to
tell everyone that this was one of their tunes, or at least shouldda
been. They did cover one tune, or at least only one I knew about,
and that was a Ramones' songs called "Gas Chamber." and
finally closing out the show with "I Stick Around." It was
very entertaining and very good sounding. I think everyone there
thoroughly enjoyed themselves, some maybe too much. Let's just say I
am glad ya can't get a second hand high. So, Foo Fighters gets Two
Thumbs Up in my book.
The lead guitarist gets One Down for his
attire, but what can ya do?|
